AIH212 DXpedition
in Lapland: Signals from Latin America to Japan
The 212th
DXpedition to Aihkiniemi resulted in neat catches
from Latin America and Japan. I was also able to
promote the DXing hobby live on ZNS Network, the
national TV of the Bahamas. A definite highlight
was being able to welcome US DXer Bill Whitacre
in Aihkiniemi for the first time.

Discover Low-Power AM Stations
(LPAM) from the Netherlands

Dutch
LPAM stations are among the most fascinating DX
targets on mediumwave. They offer an extraordinary
mix of tiny hobby broadcasters, local voices, weekend
music, oldies, Dutch folk, pirate-style shows and
even 1-watt signals that sometimes make it all the
way to Finland. This 3-part article explores the
Dutch AM band frequency by frequency, showing what
can be heard and what remains elusive.

AIH178
DXpedition in Lapland: Amazing aurora and an avalanche
of Applachian rarities
The
178th Aihkiniemi DXpedition far exceeded my
expectations. At a point of the solar cycle when
solar maximum is approaching, being able to wittness
stunning northern lights was very impressive. Even
more rewarding was to realize that the biggest solar
storm of the DXpedition resulted in an excellent
opening towards the Great Smoky Mountains. This
brief window for rare AM signals lasted only 17
minutes, but led to the discovery of 17 new stations,
most of them at daytime power.
