Backstory

There’s much more than what meets the eye when it comes to Debauchery Island.  For the American billionaire heir, Wade, it means his life and the life of everyone in his family.  He is the first male in his generation to reach the age of 25 and he has just 5 years to make sure that the family doesn’t lose their wealth, power, and their lives. 

You see, Wade’s family is old money.  Hundreds of years ago, his family made a pact with the devil to be wealthy for as long as they existed on the earth and every following generation would remain one of the richest families in the world.  In order to fulfill this pact, the first male to reach the age of 25 was required to give a human sacrifice.  The bigger the sacrifice, the better their lives became. 

However, as the world grew older, so did the need for more wealth and power to remain among the rich and powerful.  It was rumored that his grandfather’s sacrifice were the people on the Titantic.  He distracted the navigators so they would hit the iceberg.  His uncle refused to talk about his method.  He had a particularly hard time and did years in prison in his efforts to secure the family fortune.  When the designated heir turned 25, they had 5 years to provide a suitable sacrifice.  If the sacrifice was not suitable, they had to start all over with an even larger and more elaborate sacrifice.  The more death and chaos they created, the better.  But their deeds would often wear on them.  Wade’s oldest uncle did 20 years in prison and it took him 20 years or 4 tries to get a suitable sacrifice.  Now in his late 60s, he was reclusive and the family rarely saw him.  When they did, he would lurk in the darkness and barely spoke yet would be richly dressed and dripping in expensive jewelry.

Wade was different.  He was outgoing and full of life. He was a daring, adventurous, mischievous, and charismatic.  When he was told about his duty to the family at the age of 18, instead of being worried and horrified, he was excited.  His father was worried he wouldn’t be able to complete the deed in an orderly fashion that wouldn’t  trace back to the family.  Wade was always either at a party or throwing one.  He had probably tried every party drug he could get his hands on and it was a miracle he hadn’t contacted HIV with the number of women he would go through at times. 

Then at the age of 21, he suddenly stopped.  He disappeared and cut off communication with everyone.  Nobody heard a word from him for 10 years.  He showed up to the family estate and said that he would need a large sum of money to complete his duties.  He told his father that his sacrifice at 25 was not sufficient.  The look on his face was the most serious his father had ever seen.  He gave him the money.  His father knew that the first sacrifice had failed because their businesses took massive losses in the past years.  He would do anything to stop losing the money and power the family held.

Wade had the perfect plan.  In the past, the heirs before him always did things in secret trying to fly under the radar or avoid consequences like his uncle. But he wanted to do things a bit differently.  Nobody would suspect a thing because he had always been known as a rich, wild child.  Now he had the perfect way to secure his families wealth and power and it all would happen on Debauchery Island.
