11.04.2016 – Toy Warehouse Sale events is a sign that the holiday season is just around the corner even though they’re a month away. But Toy Kingdom urges early shoppers to get their hands on some interesting gifts for the kids and kid at heart. Since 2007 Toy Kingdom has organized the yearly Toy Warehouse Sale at the Megatrade Hall in SM Megamall. It has become a yearly tradition that attracts thousands of early Christmas shoppers as an alternative to avoid the holiday bum rush.

Secret Fresh: Dead Hunger | Disorder Revisted!

09.14.2015 – If you’re into everything has to do with visual art then you’re open to various interpretations whatever the artist conveys. Last night’s Secret Fresh latest solo show featuring Andres Barrioquinto works and also have two new art toys. The surrealistic portraits layered with inspiration from Japanese art style and pattern of Barrioquinto takes a different look on some of his works. He revisits his old collection via his solo show “Dead Hunger: Disorder Revisited!”

08.09.2014 – Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno press media screening happened a few days ago and the anticipation for this film has grown with a huge fan support. The following day in cooperation with Ayala Malls Cinema they also head a presscon. The fans gathered while mall shoppers pass by to get a glimpse of the Japanese cast and director of the said film. The Glorietta Activity Center was packed that witness the public press media day for the actors and director for Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno and it was a full day.

Most people retire at 60 but at 75 our favorite caped crusader, the only Dark 
Knight recognized and loved by generations is on full throttle with a new movie up in the works, with none other than his buddy Superman. (Even if fans are still at odds with former Daredevil Ben Affleck wearing the famous cape and cowl), a new origin series Gotham from Fox is also on the way, with Bruno Heller on the helm (it's on my watch list). In 75 years Batman has been immortalized in all sorts and forms of media, from series, television series, publishing and merchandise and this has allowed him to be discovered and loved by generations who have looked up to a very human superhero (not an alien, not a god) but an ordinary guy who drew strength from a tragedy and faced his fears to fight evil and seek justice as The Dark Knight.    

Secret Fresh: Testing Testing | FETISH.

05.26.2014 – Secret Fresh recently had another successful back to back launch titled “Testing Testing” featuring the father and son team of Fabo & Miles Fabonan. The exhibit takes you to their first collaborative exhibit featuring women. While the other side of the gallery delves into Sin, Fallacy, and Immortality by any other word: FETISH. This features four talented artists in Waldy Chavez, RMBT, Dan Montevilla and Jim Magat.

12.15.2013 – Better Living Through Xeroxography or simply BLTX is a small press expo on its fourth year. The organizers team up with Lopez Musuem to bring the event to a wider audience and there’s now open to the public. What once an event held at Ilyong’s Bar & Restaurant for the past three years is now caters to introduce everyone to a community not only about local comics, but also through other aspects of art from the independent scene.

Secret Fresh: WOLO Art Launch!

11.25.2013 – “We Only Live Once” (WOLO) is the latest solo show from Christian Tamondong at Secret Fresh last night. The art gallery launched his latest art toy and his latest works inspired from his childhood. The latest works consists of five art pieces and one limited edition art toy in “Wobbit”, that appears to be a pink bunny in a suit. But don’t let this brilliant creative creature fool you. After collaboration with Huck Gee for PUCHAA he’s back with new works too…

11.10.2013 – Foldabots Toy Book 6 was launched earlier today at the Atrium of Robinsons Magnolia. Jomike Tejido the creator of the Toy Book series that was compiled from its monthly appearance on K-Zone magazine was on-hand to celebrate the event. Summit Media that publishes K-Zone and the Toy Books where present to assist the kids on the activities that was set for the event. The grand prize winner for the original Foldabot character took home the biggest prize!

09.21.2013 – Magna Vision is the local distributor of home media for latest movies being released in Blu-ray and DVD formats organized the release of Iron Man 3 and also the collected four seasons the Mighty Avengers which was aired in the US in Disney XD. But the major release is for Iron Man 3 which hit the screens sometime in mid-April 2013. The two-day event is to celebrate for the local release of the Region 3 DVD for Iron Man 3 which features interactive activities at the Trinoma Activity Center.

09.08.2013 – It’s the first ever All-Filipino publication event that features writers, poets, and even graphic artists of the comic book medium. There were book launches, panel discussions, seminars and special guests organized by Visprint Inc. There are also participating publishers Milflores, UST Publishing House, DLSU Publishing House, Adarna, Flipside Publishing, UP Press, The UP Institute of Creative Writing, and many more surprises revealed during the event.

Toy Kingdom Now Open at SM Aura Premier!

05.18.2013 – Last Thursday SM Aura Premier had a special by invitation opening of the newest shopping mall at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. The event was graced by Hollywood A-list in Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex in the City, Flight of the Navigator) who was revealed to be the brand ambassador of the store’s clothing line. Besides the grand opening of the department store it also has other ribbon cutting ceremonies for the other stores opening during that day. Premier.

Pinoykon Festive Pop Culture Event!

03.03.2013 – Pinoykon is the latest pop culture event to be held in Metro Manila this year. Another brewing event that showcases the local talents in the country which also featured what do you see in a convention. What makes Pinoykon stands out in its first event is putting value in the local comic book community which has already been striving. The other parts are the local gaming, toy, and hobbyist community which also gets a spotlight.

The small press of indie komiks where present and the crowd did came in droves to support this one day mini expo. It features some prominent artists who have been present during the Komikon events led by Michael David (Kubori Kikiam), Aj Bernardo & Noel Pascual (Crime Fighting Call Center Agents), and Renaissance Man Rommel Estanislao (Bruho Barbero).

11.17.2012 – The All-New X-Men #1 has finally been launched in the Philippines at Castle Geek. The almost two-month old pop culture store has finally released one the latest titles from Marvel Now. The All-New X-Men replaces the Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 2) as the flagship X-title from the house of ideas. The local release at Castle Geek also has the variant covers featuring Jean Grey on the cover by Joe Quesada and the blank edition.

Komikon 2012: Activities & Event Coverage!

10.29.2012 – Komikon 2012 is bigger on its 8th year taking almost half the space of the lobby and occupying the function rooms for the Independent Komiks Tiangge and Komiks Kalye for special activities featuring Filipino artists making a name in the international scene. The event is bustling with activity and the main hall is no longer as jam packed as in the previous Summer Komikon last May and the introduction of the Indieket last July. Clearly this shows that there is a market for Filipino creativity through komiks.

Geekology101 by Jay Tablante Finally Launched!

10.20.2012 – Geekology101 photo book launch was received with great praise and for Jay Tablante is a dream come true that began some two years ago. The members of Philippine X-Men Cosplay Team were present to show their support to what Jay Tablante has contributed to the community. The launch was also graced by Alodia Gosiengfiao and Barbie Forteza as both girls where Jay’s models in the book. Also present are his photographer friends in Aly Reyes who happens to dress up as Indiana Jones and Winston Baltasar as Professor Xavier.

PICCA Fest 2012: Event Coverage & Highlights!

10.07.2012 – The Philippine International Creative Content and Arts (PICCA) celebrate the last day with event highlights from featured trade and showcase from the komiks industry as well as a gallery of art works from the local and international scene. There was also workshops, Drawing contests for kids, Caricature sessions, and to round up the closing of PICCA Festival the event has partnered with GTMACCON, where a collection of passionate cosplayers dress up as their favourite Filipino characters based from indie komiks.

Best of Anime 2012: The Booths and Exhibits at Day 1!

09.15.2012 – Best of Anime on its third year boast not only the talented cosplay competition but also the band Uchu Sentai Noiz who first had their concert in Davao City and now making a big splash at this year’s event. Selected booths can also be seen at the Best of Anime 2012 which features the Bandai booth courtesy of local distributor Ban Kee Trading as well as gift shops that sell anime inspired merchandise and collectibles rarely seen in other expos.
