You'd think in an industry/genre centered around the hearts and flowers (and yummy Alpha heroes) of lurv , the readers and writers of such industry/genre would be a little more about the love. Apparently not. You know, I don't spend a lot of time seeking out industry news, gossip and such. I enjoy me some good hot romances with deeply emotional or comedic stories and call it a day. But by virtue of being friends with authors, aspiring authors and other romance novel enthusiasts, I find myself more often than not with my curious nose in whatever happens to the be hot topic issue of the moment. And that's fine. I admit I enjoy it because it makes me feel like I belong to that tight circle that is the Romance Biz. As a reader (and sometimes writer) it's a fun time in the old town. You know, I've had the DVD set of the Colin Firth version (A & E) on my Amazon wishlist for FOUR YEARS. It finally came down in price low enough that I didn't cringe upon ordering it and it came in the mail yesterday. (along with the book Real Vampires Live Large Awesome so far!) I watched the first half yesterday and I gotta say, I'm REALLY glad I never went ahead and paid $50 or even $30 on it. I mean, I love me some Colin Firth and he's utterly brilliant in it but...I can't help but compare it to the version starring Kiera Knightly. Not that I was amazingly impressed with IT but at least the irresistable Jane Bennet is actually pretty in that version. In the BBC version she's kinda horsey looking. All big teeth, long neck and oddly shaped nose. I can't imagine Mr. Bingly or anyone being so besotted with her while Elizabeth is actually the MUCH more attractive of the two. I've been having weird dreams for the past few nights. Most of them involving the various men in my life, past and present. But not the steamy delicious kind of man dreams. Just weird. Strange, I guess. And at least two of them involved a certain someone who I dare not mention but you all know who he is. LOL But the one that's really stuck in my head involved my one big "star-crossed" fella from way back. (as in we were great friends from childhood through to adulthood and both knew that we wanted to be together but never said so to each other and definitely never acted on it.) I do actually believe in love. If you read yesterday's meme you might have come across that where it asks, "Do you believe in love?" and I answered, "Nope. Well, infatuation maybe, but not real love." I do actually believe in love but it never asked if I thought I was smart. The answer to that one would have to be a resounding NO. LOL Believe it or not, I thought the question was "Have you ever BEEN in love?" Yeah. Apparently I can't read. But I do actually believe in love. I'm BACK! hehehe So, you may have guessed, I've been on vacation. Want the skinny? Well, you're getting it anyway. :-p So I ended up spending all of last weekend with my folks. My former pastor and his wife were in town visiting so we went to a BBQ that Friday night. I haven't seen them since '04 so it was really great to get some hugs and catch up. They're both very important to me since I practically grew up with him as my pastor. Probably from 12-22...all my formative years, I guess you could say. And even now, I still think of them as family. So yeah, I had a great time visiting with them as well as some former church family I grew up with, too. What made it even better was how everyone kept telling me how pretty I am.
