1300?? What the...

Image
When I logged into Blogger just now I noticed that as of yesterday's post, I have posted 1300 blog entries. Thirteen. Hundred. One thousand, three hundred. I'm a chatty little monkey, aren't I? Anyway, that's not at all what I came here to blog about. So I'll just get on with it. Last night I got bored. Ghost Hunters was on but they weren't doing a whole lot. I'd already polished off the last of the peanut butter hockey pucks cookies I'd baked last weekend. I needed a project. Something to keep me from crawling out of my skin. Something other than trolling the kitchen for something else to eat. I didn't have any paint projects to work on (it was too late to do anything with paneling) and I didn't want to start anything that would take all night to do. So I started sorting through all my scrapbooking paper and supplies. Not because I plan on starting a new scrapbook, but just because it was something to do. As I was sorting, I came acros...

Wednesday Blues

It's been a rough day 'round these here parts. For one thing it's all drizzly, humid and cold-ish outside. No sunshine for the past three days. *groan* For another, it's been kinda busy and not the fun kind. The "run your legs off" kind. Job security, I must remind myself. Also, everyone seems to be on edge, sniping and growling at each other, stirring the pot of ill will. That kind of thing. Never makes for a happy atmosphere. I think the Christmas Break glow has finally worn off and everyone needs another long vacation. *sigh* I know I do. Although I must say I've managed to hang onto my temper a little better. I'd gotten really grizzly by the time we shut down in December. So much so that it was a month after we got back before the student worker I'd been the biggest bitch to finally started trusting that I wouldn't lop off his head again. Fortunately, I've got a couple of vacation days scheduled for next month. Maybe they'll sta...

Not for Sissies

What's not for sissies? Yard work. Which definitely means it's not for me. But what did I do this weekend? I painted my nails. What'd you think? Nah, I did actually do some  yard work. *shudder* It was supposed to storm all day Saturday so I put off priming my walls. It may be an old wives' tale but I've heard it said that you shouldn't paint when it's raining. Something about the humidity? So since it was supposed to storm all day Saturday I didn't prep the walls Friday night. (wash them down and tape the trim, in case you're wondering.) Saturday ended up being a gloriously amazing day. Sunshine, nice breeze and warm temps. Just glorious. But since I didn't have my walls prepped and I was slightly paranoid about the odds of it suddenly bursting into rain I still decided against priming the paneling. So instead I...dun dun dun... yard work. *shudder* I started out just picking up a stick here and stick there while I was outside with ...

Spring Done Sprung

Libby is a difficult supermodel to work with. She refuses to look at the camera, for one. For another, she said I don't pay her enough to take direction while sitting in weeds almost as tall as she is. Can't say that I blame her. I don't like sitting in the weeds either. But the weather sure is nice. Guess I'm gonna hafta get the weedeater out. And maybe make Daddy some jalepeno poppers to sweet talk into unleashing the lawn tractor on all that green stuff.

My "Big" Girl

Image
While I was eating nutella brownies and roasting wieners around a bon-fire, Emmy was off riding horses and doing other cool stuff. Like simulated sky diving... And go-cart driving... And sitting in skyhawks... And mugging for the camera with her dad... And sitting on giant rocks with her mama... They look more like sisters than mother and daughter, huh? My girl's growing up so fast. *wipes tear* Photos courtesy of BIL. He's the bestest!

Anatomy of a Birthday Evening

Image
"Libby! Come on! We're goin' on a roadtrip!" "Where are we goin', Mama?" "We're going to Nana and Bobo's." "Why, Mama?" "'Cause Bobo's cookin' us a steak, Libs." "I love you, Mama." "Let's try to keep it 'tween the twitches, Libs." "We're here!" "Mmmm, salad." "Mmmmmmm...Steak! Baked Potato! Cheddarwurst! Bread! I'm in heaven!" "Burp." Later that evening back at home... Ring Ring "It's BFF calling to wish me Happy Birthday!" "I think I need a cookie, Libs." "I give you a pedicure for your birthday, Mama!" "Ooo, Ghost Hunters is on. Let's see what Grant and the gang find this week." "That was good. What's that? Fact or Faked is back? What a lovely birthday present, Syfy!" "I'm tired, Mama. Let's record it and g...

Oops!

I've been so busy inhaling BigMac's and Frappes in celebration of aging gracefully(ish) that I almost forgot what day of the week it is. A new episode of Kessler County Chronicles  is now up. You know, in case anyone cares.  Which, it's perfectly fine if you don't. *lip quiver* ;-D

Nappy Time

Milo fell asleep fishin'. Poor pooch. Them kids just wore him out. And I was totally jealous.

Birthday Bash 2011

Image
Disclaimer : My birthday isn't ACTUALLY until tomorrow (the 23rd). My family always celebrates it the weekend before. So yeah. We had my and Goofus's birthday "party" Saturday. And I quote "party" because it's never so much about celebrating me or Goofus and the fact that we were born as it is to have an excuse to play with the kids and eat a lot. I've been kind of blase about my birthday this year. Mostly because everyone else has been kinda blase. Like, I don't know, it's not a big deal. Which I guess it isn't. It's only me, after all. *cue trembling lips and sad music* hehe There wasn't a whole lot of discussion about it. Nobody really asked me what or when or how I wanted to celebrate. In fact, up until about Thursday of last week I wasn't 100% sure I was even going to HAVE a "party." Because nobody mentioned it. I finally asked. (I hate, loathe and despise having to ask if anyone's going to bother with...

Not Feelin' It

Image
I had a great weekend and I'll recap it tomorrow. Just--today--I'm not feelin' it. Call it Monday Blues, call it frustration with other people, call it Pouty Jana Day but I'm just not in the mood to cheerfully recount my lovely weekend. So instead, I'm leaving y'all with this... http://www.ihasahotdog.com

Furry Princess

Image
This is what trying to make my bed looks like at my house. My "little helper" ain't so much of a help. And no, I haven't switched back to a red comforter. This is just the red fleece blanket I've been keeping at the foot of my bed this winter. It's nice and cozy. As soon as I spread it out to fold it nice and neat, Princess Pain in the Fluffy Butt made herself at home. But ain't she perty?

In Zee Bedroom...

Image
I am ALMOST done with my bedroom. As in, decorating it. Which means...dun, dun, dun...I finished my the tall chest! So, Tuesday before I met the girls for supper I stopped by Lowe's to look for hardware. (I *heart* Lowes, still.) I was really super smart about hardware (drawer pull) shopping and took a piece of the old hardware with me to match the size. I knew it was significantly smaller than average and was a little fearful that I wouldn't be able to find one that would fit. Well, turns out I found two pieces that fit! The first one I found was one of those cup style pulls, similar to these . Right color (brushed nickle), right size but...meh. I'm not a fan. So I put it back and kept looking. I was just about to leave when I noticed one hiding behind the giant ladder in front of the display. Cut to me squeezing my big bootay behind the giant ladder to grab one and then doing a little happy dance in the middle of Lowe's when it matched the old hardware in size.  ...
