Ever read the book Patrick's Dinosaurs? NO? Well, don't worry, Jude is going to tell it to you (the latter half anyway). I can understand everything he says because I'm his mama (and I know the book by heart), but if you need a translation, read this first...
On the other side of the street, Patrick thought he saw a triceratops waiting for the traffic light. When Patrick and his brother climbed down from the bus, the hot dusty street became a prehistoric forest. Tropical birds screamed their warning! Too late. A dreadful tyrannosaurus crashed into the clearing! The triceratops lowered its huge head. It's horns pointed ahead like 3 enormous spears. "RUN", yelled Patrick! He headed for their apartment building. Patrick didn't feel safe until the front door of their house slammed shut. He wanted to look out his window, but first he had to ask Hank something. "How big was a tyrannosaurus?" (BIG.) "Up to the second floor maybe?" (At least!) "That's what I was afraid of", said Patrick. He peeked into his bedroom and sure enough, the ugly head of the tyrannosaurus almost filled his window! The dinosaur opened his mouth to show teeth like daggers...(He skips the important part where he finds out that there are no more dinos...) Patrick gave a sigh of relief... And the dinosaur disappeared!
Isn't he something?? This boy LOVES his books! He enjoys hearing them again and again so he can memorize them. He already loved this story when we found a great book on tape at the library. Some books on tape are dull... (just has someone else read so the adult doesn't have to.) But this one is GOOD- with jazz music added to it as well as sweet sound effects!) I think Jude gets his auditory memory from me... I generally remember the things I hear and can recite it back later. Provided that it interests me, of course... (:
