From: TomL, CSA & the High Priestess for 210 points

I partially painted several confederate sprues of Warlord Epic while on vacation leaving the fiddly stuff for home.  This is the last of those that will make the challenge. This is the 5th Texas:

 

 

Eventually I will dig up another metal command strip and paint up a second command stand in this uniform and split this large group into two regiments.

Painted in a similar way to previous regiments, this currently larger unit of 100 figures * 2 points is worth 200 points.

I realized I hadn’t painted a single Bob Murch Female Adventurer this challenge.  Obviously the only thing to do was to grab a few from primed pile.  So I present some misunderstood, often underestimated female cultists.  The High Priestess and her equally evil assistant:

The dagger was painted with a dark purple/green color shifting paint that obviously does not like an overhead led light. Two 28mm cultists for 10 points.  Duels remain unchanged.

A great final entry, Tom. While I very much admire your Reb infantry, I have to say my heart is with those Bob Murch female cultists (those sculpts are so characterful). Such a tough gig, being a cultist, but you've made them quite glamorous here. Well done!

SteveA: 10mm Black Powder Epic, American Civil War Union Cavalry (45 points)

My final submission for this year's grand AHPC, is 3 stands of American Civil War Union Cavalry for Black Powder Epic.  

I had originally thought to pivot to something from my 28mm mini to do queue to meet my 500 point objective, but the clock was ticking out the last minutes before the submission gates slam shut, and I already had the relevant colour paints at the ready after my previous submission and these were already on my paint desk!

It amuses me a bit to think it is somewhat analogous to rush a paint job of tiny men on horsebacks for a photo finish to get me over my points objective finish line.  The end of this year's AHPC served as a good dead line for a focused GEMO (good enough, move on) effort to just get it done at table top quality, to avoid the paint puttering I often indulge in that ultimately rarely much improves the end result.

 

I again enjoyed joining in this year's challenge, I think this is the first time I actually hit my target points total, so I'm also feeling pretty good about that.

Well done and congratulations everyone for advancing you hobby goals and rescuing many a mini from the purgatory of the unpainted!  I appreciate the inspirations I have gained from viewing the photos of your productions yielded from the practicing of  your collective painting prowess, and I hope to be so fortunate as to again put brushes to purpose with you all next year!

Great work here Steve, even if you say they are rushed they are great tabletop quality especially for 10mm figures.  I think you had an alternate reason to post these though, to help rub it in that your buddy Byron didn't get off his ass to paint all his ACW stuff like he was supposed to this challenge.  Consider me suitably shamed by your painting efforts with your ACW stuff this challenge.  Great work and 45 points added to your total!

From AdamW. A last huzzah! (272 PTS)

 I'm pleased to squeeze these in before the end of the challenge.  After doubling my original goal, I gave myself the luxury of prepping some figures, so didn't think I'd get these finished, so a nice little bonus.

My last entry is some 15mm American Civil War Cavalry, mounted and dismounted.  

I already have a pile of these on bases that just need flocking, and these lot needed painting up to join them.

There are four units of mounted and four dismounted in this batch, with a mixture of figures. There are minifigs,  a load of Essex, a couple of Peter pig and a load I don't recognise at all.

It does add another Squirrel, although my first attempt at Squirreling is poor.  That is also a good thing as I remained focused and painted what I needed to paint, rather than paint a whole load of odd bits just to increase my count of the fluffy tailed chaps.

My second AHPC and another successful one.  Having a dedicated painting station makes life so much easier, meaning I can dip in for the odd five minutes while the kettle is boiling.

Hope to see you all again next year, where I will either be deep in the middle of my first proper 25mm project, or knocking out some old 15mm bits to have a break. Thanks to the Overlord and all the minions for their hard work.

Four of the mounted cavalry where old, bashed about but painted, so just needed touching up, so I haven't counted them in my points total.

Finally back from our 10 week vacation in Australia, I was keen to hit the painting desk and have been really productive over the last 14 days getting a lot painted. I missed last Friday’s  deadline as I went to wargames and forgot to take photos…..

First up eight Perry Plastic dismounted Dragoons, these have been in my stash for over 10 years now, great to finally get them completed. 

8 Napoleonic figures @ 5 points = 40 points 

I also painted some  ACW bits, a Confederate band and a farrier from Dixon minatures range. 

9 ACW figures @5 points  = 45

Back to my neglected Roman’s for my Gangs of Rome project, I still have a lot more to do with this collection, including buildings. The figure will be able to be a civilian, slaver or a gang member, and two camels. 

Three 28mm figures @ 5 points = 15 poinrs

Finally for Christmas I received the Aliens another glorious day for the corps board-game, I decided to paint the Xenomorph’s first, I elected for a green blue colour on my first batch, quite happy with the result.

From TomL: BattleTech Steiner Strikers & 19th VI (142 points)

First up is another Battletech unit.  These are painting in the Steiner Striker colors - red with an inverted triangle in white. 

These were 3D printed to plug the gap in a friends Catalyst KS collection.  Some of the details were a touch shallow so I did a black wash over the base red followed by a red & slightly orange highlight. The inverted triangle areas were painted grey, then white with a final contrast basilicom grey to add some depth.

Finally got a chance to finish one of the ACW CSA units I started while on vacation. This is the 19th Virginia:

 

As before, the base colors are done with contrast paints, details and highlights used Vallejo & TTC acrylics with a final coat of Vallejo Game wash.  

Score:140
4 28mm figures @ 5 for 20 points.

60 epic figures @ 2 for 120 points. 

4 points for the Stompy robots of death duel.

From TomL: ACW 9th Georgia CSA Infantry Regiment (120 points)

Taking a break from the BattleTech figures as I finally finished another ACW unit.  When building my forces I look for units that fought in the more famous battles I am likely to recreate. This is the 9th Georgia Infantry Regiment. At one point it had 10 companies and saw fairly continuous action from 1862 through the end of 1864.  Most CSA units did not carry state flags in battle but the Warlord Epic stands have two flag bearers so I include the state flag. In theory it helps to identify the unit on the table, assuming you can read these flags at this scale.

 

The base colors were done with contrast paints, details and highlights used Vallejo & TTC acrylics with a final coat of Vallejo Game wash.  

Points are 60 epic figures @ 2 for 120 points.

From PeteB - BMC ACW Confederate Infantry - 54 mm - 30 Points

I'm pleased I could finish some figures this week. I had to rush with the theme figures but also with these. These are figures I bought in a second hand shop and I found them a nice addition for my Confederate troups. Okay you can see that someone played with these figures, and I'm happy about that, but for painting them that wasn't that nice. I tried to make them look good the best I could. And here you see the result.

From AdamW: Councils of war (The Wise) (36 points)

 Deciding on an entry for 'The Wise' part of the challenge was tricky.  The obvious and simple solution would be a Monk or similar contemplative individual, however, that didn't inspire me in 15mm.

So instead I present a duo of generals from both sides of the American Civil War.  Originally I had planned to use one set for this and one set for the Contemplatives, but I have come up with something more unusual for that one now.

So we have two sets of figures, Union and Confederate. Many wise heads gathered around the table planning the next battle or campaign move. By posting both sides I should avoid upsetting anyone :)

These 15mm figures are 3D prints I bought on Etsy. I like the composition, but they do lack some detail, for example the faces are pretty smooth. Overall I am happy with the results.

You are a brave man to call any Civil War general wise, or perhaps any general (period) for that matter, but I must say that I really like these little vignettes, Adam. They may be a little crude as you say, but the overall result is still very pleasing! The little details on the maps are great too. This hattrick of yours means a further 36 points are added to your total!
