My day at Gundam Docks

Well, what is Gundam Docks really? Well, it's basically one of the large-scale Gundam events ever to be held outside of Japan. The last one was in 2013 and was in Hong Kong. So you can say we are very privileged the Bandai decided to have one here. 

This event marks the 35th anniversary of GUNDAM and to make it even more special, it is held in conjunction with Singapore's Golden Jubilee, SG50! 

To commemorate this  special occasion, Mr Kunio Okawara was invited to create a SG50 theme Gundam for Singapore. Yes! Finally, a Gundam we can call our own. A proud moment for me when it was announced not long ago!

It's here again! The Gunpla Expo World Tour is going to be in Singapore starting from 30 August 2012 till 9 September 2012. Expect lots of activities and Gundam displays this time and not to mention, all those exclusive. This year's Gunpla Expo will be held at Nex, and not Compass Point. Hobby Art Gallery has announced a Master Grade Age-1 Normal Group Build. The deadline for this build will be 1 May 2012. Participants are required to bring their finished model down to HAW on that day. A prize (to be revealed later) will be awarded to the best MG Age-1.

You can come up with alternate colour schemes and/ or new concepts, light/ heavy modifications. And as an added incentive for the Group Build, all participants can register and buy MG Age-1 at 30% off SRP. Transformers Cybertron Con 2012

Singapore Gundam Expo 2011

I went down to Gunpla Expo 2011 this evening to have a better look of the entries. I felt that there is a dip in standards this year. That could be because of new participants entering the fray, I did saw a lot of unfamiliar names. If this is the case, then it is a very encouraging sign. Old folks like me could call it a day and let the young generation take over. Anyway, I took some entries selectively (it was very crowded) and hope to share with you guys.

So this is it, tomorrow the team of Poison Monkeys will be going to Philippines for the first MAC Anniversary party! Izakku, Waylander, Edmund (Hobbymate) and me will be meeting the team at MAC forums and the man himself, DC23! Nothing beats meeting face-to-face, we have lots of ideas and techniques to discuss, share and learn together! This is going to be a blast!

Omegabear (Bearguy/Omegamon conversion)

As Bearguy fever continued,  Hobby Art Gallery decided to organize a mini Bearguy build group. I took this opportunity to do something more relaxed and also for a quick fix. Initially, I wanted to do a Ironman version or Silver Surfer complete with a surfboard. While I was still brainstorming for ideas when the Omegamon box which was stashed in the corner caught my attention. And that's when I decided to do a Omegamon version. 

As this is just a fun build. I did not work on the seam lines and modifications are kept to a minimum. I had to add strips on the chest similar to Omegamon.

Gundam Fiesta 2010

I took leave on Friday and made my way down to Compass Point for the Gundam Fiesta Singapore 2010. This is like an expo similar to those held in Japan and Hong Kong alas at a much small scale. I ain't complaining. At least we have one annually. At one glance, this year's layout is pretty similar to last year. However, I find the displays are more interesting now...

Gundam Fiesta 2010

You know, when I look at Hong Kong and Japan, I always envy the folks there who get to see large-scale Gundam events. Well, not anymore. With the success of Gundam Fiesta 2009, Shengtai the main organizer, look set to make this year's event even bigger. I could still remember the display of all the Gundams from the first series to the latest one and also the huge Gundam 00 and Three Kingdoms dioramas. This year promises to be even better looking at the website .

Starting from 1 September to 13 September at Compass Point, Sengkang, there are a lot of attractions and activities:-

1. A giant 1:1 Gundam hand will go on display 
2. A giant battle diorama
3. Gundam displays from Japan (that is something that interest me!) 
4. The usual event merchandise 
5. Guest Appearance: Mr Kawaguchi, the father of Master Grade models. An important figure at BANDAI 
6. And Gundam Girls!!

I have absolutely no doubt this year's event will be a blast! I will be there on the first day and maybe everyday! :)  Join them on facebook!
