Each month QST publishes a listing of Hams who have qualified for the Public Service Honor Roll (PSHR). The PSHR recognizes Hams who give a little extra each month by participating in public service events, emergency responses, on-the-air traffic handling, and helping the Section with various jobs though an appointment. On December 7 the MARC was hosted by the Collinsville Fire & Rescue department at the Collinsville Christmas Market festival where we operated radios under the MARC banner as special event station W5C. HF radios on a long wire off-center fed dipole antenna and a portable HF antenna made over 100 contacts during the festival. This was an effective demonstration of amateur radio in view of the several hundred people present at this event.
