Comme �voqu� dans l'article US Signal Corps - Photographies - 1917-1918, l'United States Army Signal Corps est originellement un corps des transmissions cr�� en 1863, pour la gestion des syst�mes d'information et de communication des forces arm�es.
Mais ce sont surtout ses op�rateurs photo et ses cam�ramans qui vont documenter la premi�re guerre mondiale, dans un double but : m�moriel (photos, vid�os...) et op�rationnel (photos, cartes, vues a�riennes...). Chaque photographie est ainsi index�e et document�e, mais la base de donn�es consid�rable ainsi constitu�e va se compl�ter, pour les zones sous occupation allemande, de toute formes d'images, et principalement des cartes postales �dit�es par l'arm�e allemande (qui ne pratique pas la censure syst�matique utilis�e par les Fran�ais).

On trouve ainsi dans ses fiches les cartes postales suivantes, d�j� bien connues par les diff�rentes copies publi�es dans la rubrique ��Cartes postales et photographies de l'ancien canton de Bl�mont �.
