On Tuesday 30th June, we were delighted to celebrate a new chapter in German–British collaboration as the DAAD London office officially relocated to the premises of the Goethe-Institut London on Exhibition Road, South Kensington.
On Tuesday 14th April, the DAAD London office was delighted to host an enlightening and thought-provoking panel discussion titled: “AI Safety, Security and Innovation in the Context of Regulation from an Anglo-German Perspective”.
Our Global Minds Initiative Germany offers international research talent career prospects in the German science system. We will thereby lastingly strengthen the German and European Research Area.

Last weekend, the DAAD London office was delighted to welcome the next cohort of Young Ambassadors for 2026/27 to London for a 3 day visit. The trip included a workshop on the work of the DAAD in the UK/Ireland and internationally, as well as presentations from previous Young Ambassadors Natalie Woodhead and Joseph Cogan, who delivered excellent talks on their events in 2025/26, as well as practical tips and advice on how to carry out engaging activities at their universities.
After a very successful first year of the programme, with over 35 events ranging from author readings to German film nights and Christmas market trips, we couldn't be happier to continue such a fantastic initiative. We wish every success to both our current and former Young Ambassadors, and thank them for their hardwork and passion in promoting study in Germany. Here's to even more successful events in 2026/27! 👏

The Research Grants in Germany Programme offers doctoral students and postdocs (up to 4 years after completing your doctorate) the opportunity to realise a research project at any German university, university of applied sciences, non-university research institute, music academy or art college.
💰Funding is provided for a period of 2 to 12 months for doctoral students and 2 to 6 months for postdocs.

The DAAD Bi-nationally Supervised Doctoral Degrees / Cotutelle scholarship supports doctoral researchers at UK or Irish institutions who want to carry out their PhD jointly between their home university and a university in Germany.
What’s included?
• €1,400/month during your stay in Germany
• Funding for 7–24 months
• Travel allowance
• Health, accident & personal liability insurance
• €460 research allowance
• Additional support may be available for rent, family and language courses

Study in Germany – discover Magdeburg!
Magdeburg is the green capital of Saxony-Anhalt. The magnificent Magdeburg Cathedral towers over the city on the Elbe River, 170 km west of Berlin. Magdeburg is attractive to many students, and not only because of its familiar atmosphere and affordable rental prices.
Magdeburg is home to two higher education institutions and numerous research institutes. The economy is significantly dominated by the service-providing sector. It also benefits from its proximity to the large business centres of Berlin and Leipzig.
One of Magdeburg’s impressive landmarks is the “Green Citadel of Magdeburg”. You can’t help but notice the pink-coloured building with its unusual architectural details – golden orbs, crooked walls and large archways. The Green Citadel was designed by the Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Two brightly designed courtyards are located within. The name of this extraordinary building refers to the rooftop which is covered with grass.
