The Song Remains The Same Soundtrack 50 years gone…
50 years ago, on the afternoon of Thursday October 21 1976, I anxiously tore open the box marked Warner/ Elektra/ Atlantic Records at the WH Smith record shop where I worked to reveal for the first time the gatefold sleeve of, as the label spine gloriously put it ‘’The Soundtrack To The Film The Song Remains The Same‘’.
Yes the only official live album released during the band’s life time is 50 years old.
I have much affection for that original double …

On the 56th Anniversary of the release of Led Zeppelin III, here’s my thoughts on the original album and the 2014 reissue:
Led Zeppelin III: Solid gas then… Solid gold now…
THEN:
Led Zeppelin III was my first experience of the anticipation and waiting that would often be required leading up to the release of a new Zep album.
The waiting began in early 1970 and would last a period of ten months.
This anticipation was played out via the pages of the NME music paper as that was my prime source of …
Led Zeppelin Whole Lotta Love single rarity on Antiques Roadshow:
It was very interesting to see the rare Whole Lotta Love withdrawn single discussed on last Sunday’s edition of Antiques Roadshow.
I was wrong about the sleeve – that is a 1969 era Atlantic house bag. The single itself is certainly not in the best condition.
As for valuation – it would need to be in excellent condition to reach £1000.
I was in touch with Zep singles collector expert Nick Anderson – Here’s Nick’s thoughts on the single.
The 500 copies referred to iis …
Record Collector – new issue with DL in The Collector feature…
In the new issue of Record Collector I am featured in the monthly The Collector column. This is the second time – I was previously featured in this column when I was 50 back in 2006. it’s rather fitting that upon another landmark birthday I am back with more thoughts on my collection.
It’s been great fun to be involved again and many thanks to editor Paul Lester for offering me the opportunity to do so. Thanks also to ace photographer …

TBL Archive: Japan 1971
This month marks the 55th anniversary of one of the all time great Led Zeppelin live performances – the September 29 concert in Osaka.
To mark the anniversary, here’s the Japan 1971 tour log Mike Tremaglio contributed to TBL issue 31 – and later deployed in the Evening With Led Zeppelin book:
In the last issue of TBL we left off with the band performing the final two shows of their wildly successful month-long U.S. tour in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 16 & 17, 1971. The band wasted …

55 years ago on September 13 and 14, 1971 Led Zeppelin performed two shows at the Berkeley Theatre in California. Thankfully both these shows were captured by fans in attendance and have appeared on various bootleg releases.

ON THE OCCASION OF MY 70th BIRTHDAY…
70 at 70…
On Saturday September 5th I reach the ripe old age of 70. – which is a bit of a landmark..
Here’s the young DL complete with rather large Led Zeppelin badges in a photo taken on Saturday September 4 1976 -the day before my 20th Birthday.
That was a year that I heralded the release of the Led Zeppelin Presence and The Song Remains The Same albums plus The Rolling Stones Black And Blue and David Bowie’s Station To Station – I saw The …
Andy Adams 1961 – 2021…
Five years gone…
Andy Adams passed away five years years ago on August 27,2021.
The response back then to his very sad passing was truly overwhelming though not unsurprising given Andy’s standing in the Zep community…
Reading back through all those amazing tributes and memories from back then, it’s heartwarming to see the esteem he was held in by so many – and the way he brightened all our lives and still does.
It’s a tribute to Andy that his Celebration Days Facebook group has continued to be an enlightening …
