Scouting Recognition Certificates Online
posted on November 4, 2008

November 2, 2008. Cyberbase Trading Post had released a free web-service for generating scout-related recognition certificates. This step-by-step process allows anyone with an internet connection to select the layout (horizontal or vertical), the background graphic, a certificate "seal", ribbon color and then enter the text of your choice. Once all the parameters have been entered, a PDF file is dynamically generated from this information, which may then be printed on your printer. If you need to make changes or create multiple certificates with different names, simply press the back button on your browser and print another one with the corrections.

While the program includes the ability to upload your own background image, you will probably find what you are looking for in the over 7 dozen designs that you can choose from. Designs are available for general scouting, boy scout specific, Eagle Scout, cub scout designs including pinewood derby and blue and gold banquets, Order of the Arrow, Wood Badge, popcorn sales, international scouting, blank certificates, and even girl scout designs. These are complimented by over 5 dozen styles of certificate seals to choose from. Any text can be entered in any field, giving unlimited flexibility.

As indicated, this service is free. It is a great way for recognizing the volunteers in your units or awarding scouts for their efforts or participation in various activities. Now you can generate your own scouting recognition certificates by visiting Cyberbase Trading Post, and internet site for promoting campfires and ceremonies.

The program was developed by Greg Jameson, and Eagle Scout and the current Scout Master of Troop 469 in Parker Colorado. Jameson is a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow and has been Wood Badge trained. His eldest son is also an Eagle Scout, and his younger son is a current member of his troop. By profession, Jameson develops commercial database-driven webstores. Jameson says, "The reason for developing this application was originally to show my clients an example of how this technology might benefit them. However, it looks like this is something the scouting community can really use, so we will continue to share it with whoever can use it to make their recognition programs better."
