Dropped off one of my books at Planet Word on K Street and 13th on the way to Mount Vernon

The weather was beautiful so we traveled by Uber to Virginia through Maryland to Mount Vernon on Satuday early afternoon.
The building began as a one and one-half story house built in 1734 by George Washington's father, Augustine Washington, and received its well-known name from his half-brother Lawrence Washington.
George Washington began running Mount Vernon in 1754, and over the next 45 years slowly enlarged the dwelling to create the 21-room residence we see today.
Washington oversaw each renovation, advising on design, construction, and decoration, despite being away much of the time. Conscious that the world was watching, Washington selected architectural features that expressed his growing status as a Virginia gentleman and ultimately as the leader of a new nation.

After Mount Vernon we headed to Matt and Ginny's house for some cousin time! Iyla made a spear from bamboo

Iyla broke her wrist

Trying sushi after getting x-rays at Methodist on Thursday.
Iyla fell on the school playground Wednesday and got a buckle fracture as a result. She was not a huge fan of the sushi, but liked the one-on-one time with mom. We got to see MDM making rounds at the hospital!

Buckle fractures are non-displaced stable fractures, meaning that the bone did not move. They can be treated with either a wrist splint or a short arm cast, both of which give the fracture the protection it needs to heal. We chose a cast for Iyla so she can still run around and play.

Friday afternoon she gets her blue cast on her right arm

Saturday morning breakfast - Oatmeal Raspberry Crumble with almond streusel

We have to decorate early for Sensory Santa on the 2nd so the girls decided to make a birthday tree!

We put their presents in the tree because we are not sure how Layla will handle them.
