Death investigation leads to evacuations after grenade, ammo found inside Canoga Park home

CANOGA PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police investigating a death in Canoga Park on Tuesday discovered a grenade and ammunition inside a home, prompting evacuations and street closures.

Officers responded around 10:41 a.m. to a home near Variel Avenue and Gault Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

During a search of the residence, police say they found a grenade and ammunition. Evacuations were issued and nearby streets were closed.

Police have not released additional details about the person who died.

The investigation remains ongoing.
