Last Night of Freedom!

School starts tomorrow! My summer is officially over...I am sad! My friend Natalia and I went out last night since it was our last night of summer vacation. First, she brought stuff over to my apartment to make cheese ravioli and salad for dinner. It was sure good...my cousin Caitlin joined us too. We decided to go to Northgate last night to celebrate. I mostly just go to country dance halls around town so it was fun to experience something new! We first went to this bar/lounge called Martini Street. I LOVED it! It was very Sex and the Cityish (I think I made that word up) ha!

I usually do not like martini's but this one was good! It was a watermelon flavor and was only $1.50! Gotta love cheap drinks!

Natalia with her martini. She got a raspberry flavor.

We also went to a few other places...we had a lot of fun!!!

Today I need to go buy my books for all my classes. And after that I think I am going to just relax for the rest of the day...I'm exhausted!! That 9:00 am class in the morning is going to kill me...Ha! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!! :)

The Season of Fall and the Interview!

Are ya'll as ready for Fall as I am?

I wish it looked like this in Texas...the leaves change but not like this! Does it look like this where ya'll live?

It was so weird yesterday evening I walked outside from my apartment and it was actually really cool outside! It was by no means cold but cooler. It gets soo hot here in Texas during the summer (like in the high 90's or 100's pretty much everyday) so I am always ready for the cooler weather. But when it gets really cold I wish it was summer again! Ha! I have really started liking the Fall lately. I love fall decorations, the smell of leaves burning, pumpkins, cooler weather, Halloween parties, and getting ready for Thanksgiving/Christmas. What's your favorite thing about the Fall?

********************

So this morning I had my interview! I was kinda nervous but I think it went well. Two professors here at A&M are needing someone to care for their newborn daughter a couple days a week while their working. You know that will be right up my alley because I babies!! They both seemed really nice and the little girl was really sweet. They said they have a few more people to interview and will get back with me soon if I got the job or not. So keep your fingers crossed!

Before my interview
Tonight is my LAST night of freedom before school starts. Boo!

100th Post!!!!

I can't believe it but this is my 100th post!!! I started blogging in February of this year and at the time I had maybe like a handful of people reading my blog. Mostly just close friends and family members! I remember the only comments I would get were mostly from my mom. Ha! Now I have over 50 followers...thank you to everyone who enjoys and reads my blog! I really encourage everyone to start writing in a journal, creating a scrapbook, or starting a blog....it's a great way to capture and share memories! I think it will be so cool to look back at my blog years from now and to see what I was up to in college!
Yesterday I went out to lunch with my friends Natalia and Kristan to La Bodega. The tacos we had were so yummy! If you live in College Station or come visit go eat there! Later Natalia and I met up with my cousin Caitlin to go lay out by the pool. It wasn't too sunny though. But we all had a good time catching up. Caitlin and I decided to make a trip up to H.E.B yesterday evening to get stuff to make for dinner. Well let me tell you about our trip coming back home....

To get back to our apartments from H.E.B we have to pass a shady area of College Station. Well anyways as we are driving we see this lady standing pretty much in the middle of the street waving at us in front of a gas station. We thought she was hitch hiking and she also looked like a drug addict. So we pass her and a second later I tell Cait to STOP!!! This 18 wheeler starts backing up in the middle of the road and was literally about to hit us. I told Cait to blow her horn...but the truck kept on moving. I was about to jump out of her car! Anyways the truck did not hit us...thank God.

The lady that was waving comes running up to Cait's car. Cait rolls down her window to tell her she was really sorry and that she did not realize that was the reason why she was waving at us. This lady starts screaming at the top of her lungs and cussing at us saying, "I cant believe you did not stop! That 18 wheeler has the right to back up and pull into this gas station". We were both appalled. Caitlin said a few words back to her (I wont say exactly what she said...ha) then we sped off. I mean come on...did this lady really think we did not stop on purpose? Trust me if we knew the reason why she was waving and if we would of saw the 18 wheeler we would of stopped!

Sooo anyways....Ha! I got an email last night from the people that might hire me. They said they went through my application carefully and that they want to do an interview on Saturday. I am really excited....kinda nervous though! But I am sure everything will go fine! I hope everyone has an AWESOME weekend!! :)

New Job, Mexican Food, and Ice Cream!

I cant believe I am saying this but I have been kind of bored here in College Station this week with nothing to do! I am kinda (I mean kinda) looking forward to classes starting next week because I will be back on a routine. This semester I really want to get a job where I work maybe two days a week for 2-5 hours a day. I think just having a little extra cash flow would be nice. At A&M they have this website where students can go and search for a jobs. I found a job the other day that I am interested in and last night I submitted my resume, references, letter of interest, and my Fall 2009 schedule to the person I am applying to work for. I am HOPING I get the job! I will let you know more about it later if I get it!

Yesterday I went to go check out my friend Natalia's new duplex. I am so excited because she lives only like 2 minutes from me now! It is soo nice! Then last night we went and had dinner at where else than Los Cucos? Natalia is finally 21 so now I finally have a margarita buddy!!

Me and Natalia
Afterwards, we met my friend Kristan at Coldstone Creamery for ice cream. Kristan was babysitting her friend's two little boys last night. Aren't they too cute?! I love their matching little outfits! They said that Kristan is their favorite!

I love this picture with the dripping blue ice cream all over Dalton and Kristan's leg!

Hope everyone is having a great week! The weekend is almost here!

It's 5 o'clock Somewhere!

THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE COMMENTS ABOUT MY APT. ON MY LAST POST!!

So this is my last week before school starts. :( I am trying to relax and have fun before I start going to class everyday and having to studying. I am so not looking forward to it! However, I do like being on a schedule...for some reason I always feel better when I am on a schedule. I guess I feel like I get more accomplished. Today my friend Natalia moves back to College Station...she is moving into a duplex that is like 2 minutes from my apartment so that will be nice!

I think I am going to re-paint the red above my cabinets. I feel like it looks like a daycare...Ha! My decorations look so dull up there now....they just kinda blend in with the red paint. I think in the next month I am going to paint it the goldish tan color too.

But I LOVE the red wall now....I think it looks great. Yesterday I was finally able to hang some pictures onto it. I think it looks really Retro. What do ya think?

Do ya'll understand the picture...it took me awhile! HA!
Have ya'll ever heard the Jimmy Buffet song It's 5 o'clock Somewhere? Well the stars/moon up at the top of the picture represent somewhere and the clock in the left corner says it's 5 o'clock. Isn't that not the cutest thing? I hung my red clock above the picture too!

Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Painting Party!!!

Yesterday afternoon my dad came to College Station to help me paint my apartment. I have been wanting to paint my living room/kitchen for awhile now...I am so happy it is finally done! My friend Kristan also helped us...she was such a big help! Thanks so much Kristan! When my dad got here we went to Home Depot to pick out the paint I wanted and to get the supplies. Afterwards we went an ate at Los Cucos....which is my favorite Mexican restaurant here in CS. So...it was after 8:00 before we started painting! Ha! We finished most of it last night by like 1:00...today we just had to do touch ups.

This past summer I added leopard decorations to my apartment for a new look. I decided to paint the walls in my living room a goldish tan color. It turned out GREAT! It matches perfectly!

I really wanted to hang up the cute curtains my Aunt Tina made me this weekend but the curtain rod we bought yesterday did not fit. We went all over town today looking for another rod but all the stores were sold out (this weekend is move in weekend here at A&M....so I'm guessing that's why). I am hoping I can get them up SOON! They are going to look great with my new wall color!

Here are some pictures of my living room before I added the leopard decorations and painted it:

NOW AFTER...

Isn't that leopard lamp not the cutest thing? I have been looking for it at EVERY Hobby Lobby and I finally found it yesterday! It was only $14.99 too!!

I decided to paint the wall above the table in my kitchen red. I am not sure if I like or not? I also painted above my cabinets red too. My mom came today to pick up my dad and she is not too sure about it either. What do YOU think? My mom thinks it should be painted the goldish tan color too. (I could not hang a picture on this wall yet because it was still too wet).

Another view:
I am SOOO pleased with how everything turned out! I feel like I live in a new apartment! I am so worn out...I will definitely sleep good tonight!!!!

Cake Balls, Sushi, and Paint Tape - I know RANDOM!!

So my friend Kristan is rooming with me for five days this week since she cannot move into her apartment until Sunday. She needed a place to stay while she was working this week. Kristan absolutely LOVES to bake...I mean this girl would bake something everyday if she could. Her favorite is cake. I told her the TLC show Cake Boss needs to hire her! Ha! She has been wanting to teach me how to bake so the other day we baked Cake Balls. Kristan got the recipe off of Kelly's Recipe Blog and they are soo yummy! They are also SO easy to make....

1st- Pick out any cake mix you want. We chose yellow cake mix.
2nd- Bake the cake according to directions on box
3rd- When the cake is still hot crumble it in a bowl and mix with a can of frosting
4th- Refrigerate bowl for about an hour
5th- Melt almond bark (white or chocolate) into bowl and dip balls into bark

AND YOUR DONE!! THANKS KRISTAN FOR TEACHING ME HOW TO BAKE! HA!

Last night my cousin Caitlin called to see if Kristan and I wanted to come over to her boyfriend Matt's house for awhile. Kristan decided not to go since she was really tired from work and wanted to rest. So I went for awhile...Matt just moved into a new house and it is SO nice! It's not at all the regular college guy's house! Matt had bought some Sushi he wanted Caitlin and I to try. I have never had Sushi before and neither had Cait. We were a little nervous before eating it as you can tell by our faces in the picture below. Ha! It was soo GROSS! We both didn't like it...I think Matt got the Sushi at a supermarket. I have heard before that Sushi is usually better if it is good Sushi? I really do not know what that means? Do ya'll like Sushi....where can you eat good Sushi at?

I got back to my apartment last night at like 11:00 and I was thinking I would probably find Kristan passed out on the couch. But this is what I found when I walked in....

Kristan had surprised me and had taped up my whole living room/kitchen so I can paint it this weekend! I was so surprised....I told her she did NOT have to do that! I felt bad that I was out having fun and she was in here taping up my apartment! I thought she was going to be relaxing and sleeping while I was gone! THANK YOU SO MUCH KRISTAN! This really helped me out a lot for when I paint on Saturday!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I will post pictures on Sunday of my newly painted apartment!!

Summer 2009 Favorites

Thanks everyone for the hair comments!!

Since the Summer of 09 is coming to a sad end I thought I would do a post of my favorites of this past summer.

Favorite Summer Movie:
It would have to be The Hangover. This movie CRACKED me up. It was a little crude but I loved it. I already saw it twice in theaters and I will have to go buy it when it comes out! Another movie that I thought was cute was The Proposal with Sandra Bullock.

Favorite Summer Song:
I love the song Whatever It Is by the Zac Brown Band. Have ya'll heard it before? It's such a fun and uplifting song. (They also sing Chicken Fried).

Favorite Summer Cocktail:
If you read my blog I am sure you know I love Margarita's. Also, nothing can beat a Pina Colada on the beach! And I love a glass of Ice Tea on a hot day!

Favorite Summer Meal:
It would probably have to be fresh seafood. I love the seafood in Destin when we go during the summer. I also love making guacamole with some fresh avocados. YUM!

Favorite Summer Outfit:
I have loved buying cute dresses this summer. I have never been too much of a dress girl before but now I love them.

Favorite Summer Reading:
During the school year I never really read for fun because I am mainly busy reading textbooks. This past summer I read a few books by Emily Griffin and loved them! She is a fun writer! I have read Something Borrowed and Something Blue. And now I am reading Baby Proof.

Favorite Summer Moment(s):
I have had many favorite summer moments this summer! Here are a few...

At the very beginning of the summer I had a "cousins night" with some of my girl cousins. My cousin Caitlin, Demi, and I all go to A&M and my cousin Dalena goes to UNT. Dalena came down to visit Demi (who is her sister) one weekend and we all decided to go out to Northgate. We had A LOT of fun!

Me, Demi, Dalena, and Caitlin

Another summer favorite was going to the L'Auberge du Lac Resort and Casino in Louisiana for a night. I had so much fun playing the Wheel of Fortune slot machine and playing craps!

Probably my most favorite summer moment was going to Destin, Florida in July!!
I miss the beach!

Another favorite was going to visit my friend Kimberly and her mom in New Braunfels. We had a great time floating the Guadalupe River and going to Gruene.

Sandy, some weird guy, Kimberly, and me

And finally celebrating Natalia's 21st Birthday a couple of weeks ago was another favorite. I am so happy she is now finally 21!! I cannot wait till Caitlin's 21st in two more weeks!

What were some of YOUR Summer of 2009 Favorites???

New Haircut and a Funny Picture!

Last Saturday I got my hair done at Visible Changes in The Woodlands. I put more highlights/lowlights into it and got it cut. My hair was getting pretty long since I had not had a haircut since like March. I was just going to get 2 inches trimmed off like I usually do but at the last minute I decided to try something NEW! I saw a girl in the salon with the cutest haircut so I told my hair dresser I wanted something similar. It's longer in the front and shorter in the back. (You can tell better from my side view picture). I love Visible Changes...they can be a little pricey but I always leave happy. (That's all what counts). Ha! I was so nervous to cut soo much off but I really like it...my friend Kristan said it makes me look more hip. Ha!

Side View
The other day I was watching Inside Edition (I love celebrity gossip) and I saw the funniest thing. This couple was vacationing in Canada and were taking a vacation photo last year behind some mountains. When they got back home and got their film developed this little guy happened to show up in their picture....

Is that not funny or what? They said that they put a timer on their camera so they could both be in the picture and they had no idea that this little squirrel popped up! This couple have became famous over this picture...they have been on Good Morning America, Inside Edition, and other news shows/papers.

UPDATE:
I just got through reading Mckmama's blog and she posted about the same thing today. The lady in the picture is her son Stellan's home care nurse! What a small world!

Back in Aggieland!

Well ya'll I made it back safely to Aggieland today! I had to make four trips from my car to my apartment because I had so much new stuff to bring up! (I am on the second floor too). Wish my dad was here to help! Ha! I was sweating like crazy by the end. At least I burned some calories in the mean time. I am so excited about this coming semester because it will be my Senior year. Last year was my first year here so I was just getting my feet in the door. So I think this next year is going to be great! After next spring I'm off to student teaching! YIKES!

Last night I found out I made a B in my calculus class!

My friend Kristan got to my apartment this afternoon. She is going to be staying with me for a few nights till she can move into her new apartment. So it will be nice having some company! Then my dad is coming up to my place Saturday to help me paint!! I'm soo excited! I will def post pictures!!! Tonight I think Kristan, my cousin Caitlin, Cait's boyfriend Matt, and I are all going to go out to dinner! I am GLAD to be back in Aggieland!!

Random Busy Weekend Post!

I have had a busy but fun weekend! Thursday night my parents took my friend Kristan and I out to dinner to my favorite Mexican restaurant! It was kind of a spur of the moment thing. I wanted to celebrate because Thursday I finished my summer calculus class! My teacher has yet to post my grade but I think I passed. We were joking that 7 Leguas is turning a little wild because people were actually getting up from there tables to dance. This one old guy even came to ask Kristan and I if we wanted to dance. Ha!

Us dancing-one of the waiters even had to join in on the fun! Ha!

Afterwards, Kristan and I went to go see Julie and Julia. I really have been wanting to see this movie! I love Meryl Streep. It was all about blogging and cooking. We were joking that this movie fit us perfectly... I love to blog, Kristan loves to cook, and our names are Christa/Kristan. Ha! I thought it was pretty good...could of been a little shorter though.

Friday morning we went to eat breakfast at one of my favorite places, Eden's Cafe. It was yummy. Then Kristan and I went shopping for the day. I took her to Sam Moon since she has never been before. She LOVED it! The Sam Moon by me has three different parts. The decoration store, the jewelry/accessories store, and then a gift shop. Later that evening Kristan, her friend Stephanie, and I all went to eat at the Cheesecake Factory in The Woodlands. Dont ya'll just love that place? We had a good time!

Me, Stephanie, and Kristan

Yesterday I had a 11:00 am hair appointment at Visible Changes in The Woodlands. I put more highlights/low lights in my hair and cut it! I was just going to trim it but ended up cutting A LOT off!! I really liked Stephanie's hair (see picture above) so I did something like that. It's longer in the front and shorter in the back.

Afterwards, I went to go get my cousins Kyle and Abby to keep them for the night! Abby is six and Kyle is ten. First we went to the Outlet Mall off of 290 to meet some of our Aunts, our Grandma, and cousins. It was way too hot to be shopping outside so we just stayed for a bit. When we got home I let them feed the deer. We always have TONS of deer in our yard. Then we went and ate at 7 Leguas that night ( I would probably eat there everyday if I could). Ha!

Miss Abigail rockin out her Hannah Montana shirt!
Later last night I took them to this cool water thing at Market Street in The Woodlands. I think they had fun playing in it!

Kyle and Abby at Market Street

I thought this picture was too cute!
When we got home we played hiding go seek and watched a movie. Kyle and Abby were both passed out by 10:00...they were worn out!! They slept till 9:30 this morning...I couldn't believe it! This afternoon we went to the YMCA pool to swim before I took them back home. They had fun! The YMCA has a cool play ground in the pool for kids. I hope they had a good time visiting me!!

I am moving back to College Station either tomorrow or Tuesday! I am pretty excited! I hope ya'll had a great weekend!!
