Sunlight\s on my Tongue

A Poem by Navya Chitlur

a stranger sits beside me, her skin like gold
reading some rendition of “shall i compare thee to a summer’s day”
i’ve never met her but
i think she could be the sun on this summer day
my flip flops align with hers
in a perfect harmony
we both go wherever our feet take us
we don’t know where
& i think the pages on her book are gold
& i’ve always loved gold pages
like gold leaves, only these never wither & wilt
just like the words that are immortalized
