Saudi Arabian venture capital firms are continuing to raise and deploy capital despite regional conflict and slower foreign investor participation. Khwarizmi Ventures secured more than $70 million for the first close of its second fund, while Sadu Capital is targeting a roughly $70 million fund this year. According to MAGNiTT, MENA startup funding was flat year-on-year at $799 million in Q1. Local backers including SVC and Jada Fund of Funds are increasingly filling the gap left by international investors. “What was more theoretical five years ago is clearly becoming the reality,” said Abdulaziz Al-Turki Meanwhile, Sharaka Capital continues expanding on its 350 million riyals in AUM, while Plus VC (+VC) is maintaining deployment after backing more than 100 startups across MENA over the past three years. “When people are fearful, that’s often the best time to invest,” said Hasan Haider. https://lnkd.in/d2Er32h7

Saudi-born live shopping marketplace Siin | سين has raised fresh capital, bringing its total funding to $3m, as it expands across the Gulf. The round was led by VentureSouq and Shift Group, with backing from Plus VC (+VC) and OQAL Angel Investors Network| مجموعة عقال للمستثمرين الملائكيين, alongside regional investors. Founded in 2024 by Hesham AlSaati (ex-Delivery Hero), Ahmed Allawi (formerly Tap Payments) and Khaled Albalooshi (ex-Telp), the company is positioning itself at the intersection of commerce, culture and livestreaming. ✅ Siin operates a live commerce platform blending shopping with interactive livestreams, targeting high-value goods across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman. ✅ The founders argue that commerce in MENA is inherently social and trust-driven, drawing on traditions such as souqs and majalis to inform a digital-first model. ✅ Backers including Suneel Gokhale (VentureSouq) and Hasan Haider (Plus VC) see potential in localising a global trend and building network effects within a nascent regional category. ✅ The platform, built in-house, aims to establish itself as the “trust and safety layer” for live shopping in the GCC, with new funding earmarked for market expansion and strengthening its seller ecosystem. Live commerce has thrived in parts of Asia.
