Freedom… -W3 Prompt #209: Wea’ve Written Weekly

Posted on

Yvette’s prompt: Elsewhere

With so much chaos in the world, let’s step away from reality and imagine something entirely new. Create a poem that explores a fictional world—utopian or dystopian, your choice. This world must be wholly imagined and not reflect the current reality we live in. Let your imagination run freely.

Freedom, without 'conditions apply' Notice

Is there such a world—
Where I can fly without wings?
Where I can sing the songs welling up in my heart, without enduring the taunt that my voice is unworthy of song?
Where my dancing soul find the opportunity to express itself, unhindered by any rules or laws?
Where I have the freedom to give voice to the emotions surging within my inner self, without any bonds?
Freedom, without ‘conditions apply’ notice
To borrow colours from butterflies
and fragrance from flowers,
to sway in joy with playful bumblebees;
To borrow moisture from the clouds
and playfulness from the wind,
and to dance upon the ocean, moving in rhythm with the waves;
To steal moonlight from the moon
and darkness from the night,
and to dance across the sky amidst the stars;
To borrow sweetness from the cuckoo,
weaving songs of joy,
and to join with everyone in singing sweet melodies.

Personal Freedom, or Compromise – Crimson’s Creative Challenge #072

We walked the same paths together.
Now I’m alone on them.
My pace has slowed.
I can’t keep up with your speed.
Now we walk different paths at different times.
No complaints.
No sorrow.
Perhaps, this is personal freedom.
Or,
a compromise with life.

The Dark Side of Freedom -Reena’s Xploration Challenge # 394

PROMPT #394

The theme for this week is “the dark side of freedom.”

I have borrowed an image and a quote from here. I request all participants to give due credit.

Freedom is such a wonderful gift that should be enjoyed with caution and gratitude without disturbing others’ freedom.
Freedom without proper knowledge of ethics, rights, and duty, when living in a society, will bring imbalance.
There should not be any dark side to it, but some mischievous people take it for granted. Or, they are manipulated by those with vested interests.
In the name of freedom of speech, thought, religion, expression, assembly, election, and association, they misuse it, giving it a dark side.
They criticize the beliefs of others in the name of freedom of expression, but cannot tolerate criticism of their own beliefs. They turn violent and create riots and disturbances.
They forget that criticizing and mocking the cultural, religious, and emotional beliefs of others is immoral. It destroys the harmony and peace of society.
How long can one get away with misusing freedom?
Can we remain free from the consequences of our actions?

The never ending fight – Reena’s Xploration Challenge# 371

Picture Prompt# 371

Celebrate your victory
That you have broken the shackles of evil customs
But in your jubilation, do not forget those unfortunate ones who are still in darkness
Half of them who truly want to be free
Would like to hold your leg and fly with you
And would hinder you in flying
Others who think they are happy in their darkness, ignorance
For whatever reason, perhaps fear
They would hold your leg and stop you from flying
Would like you to stoop to their level
So that you cannot rise above them
Take everyone along and touch the heights
So that the path to freedom becomes easy and permanent

Some dared to tear their veils
Some dared to break the chains of corruption
Some dared to dream big
Some dared to take a high flight
They were first attacked
They were hurt
Some were burnt alive
Some were defamed
For those,
Who did not accept defeat even after much suffering and humiliation
The sky opened its arms to embrace and solace
But
Don’t get carried away by the joy of small victories.
Some fights never end,
especially
the fights for self-respect and rights.
The opponent always looks for
an opportunity to humiliate you again.

Symbol of freedom_ What Do You See # 267

Posted on

The jungle seems to me a symbol of freedom, and
The stone wall is a symbol of slavery
But there is a chance
A hope
The door is open
There is no guard
Show some courage and get out.
What are you scared of?
The animals?
They are no more dangerous than some animals living in the concrete jungle.
They don’t kill anyone unless they are hungry.

Freedom – Reena’s Xploration Challenge # 343

Prompt# 343

The theme for this week is FREEDOM.

No one enjoys absolute freedom. However, most of us enjoy restricted freedom.

Even the richest and most powerful ones cannot enjoy their lives as they want.

Don’t believe me?

See the security personnel, commandos, and coteries they are surrounded with, round the clock.

Most of them become slaves to various drugs and medications.

The not-so-rich and the poor depend totally on those who give them business or services.

We rely on our religious leaders for guidance, and if we don’t follow them, we may end up in heaven or hell.

Those who are atheists are also not free from dependence on fellow beings.

Though they are free to think they are free.

Mother Nature has thoughtfully made us depend on each other for our daily needs.

I am grateful for whatever freedom I have enjoyed throughout my life without hurting the sentiments of my family, friends, society, and my country.

I can’t imagine enjoying a day’s freedom without my maid.

However childish it may seem

I want the freedom to live like a child again
A child can be happy for no reason at all,
Can be busy with something always
Tries to get what it desires with full conviction.

Let us live gladly! Quite certainly we are free to do it. Perhaps it is our only freedom, but ours
it is, and it is only phenomenally a freedom. “Living free” is being “as one is.” Can we not do it
now? Indeed can we not-do-it? It is not even a “doing”: It is beyond doing and not-doing. It is
being as-we-are.
– Wei Wu Wei

My dog was brought in as a pet when he was 15 days old, he was kept with a lot of care and love; still, he wanted to go out and play with the street dogs and was jealous of their freedom.

When he was a year old, in search of freedom he escaped one day and ran outside to play with the other dogs, but as soon as a pack of stray dogs saw him, they chased him barking loudly, he ran and hid in the nearby forest where his leg got caught in a thin wire trap.

Thankfully the dogs in the forest did not chase him; he was scared, hungry, and longed for the care and love of his owner.

Somehow he managed to free himself and ran to his home where he was scolded by the worried owners but was given a bath, food, love, and a soft bed to sleep in.

He thought freedom was dangerous, once you get used to it bondage was comfort, security, and convenience.

Anarchy of colors – Reena’s Xploration Challenge#337

Posted on

“To experience peace does not mean that your life is always blissful. It means that you are capable of tapping into a blissful state of mind amidst the normal chaos of a hectic life. ” – Jill Bolte Taylor

Anarchy of Colors?

What kind of joke is this?
Have colors rebelled?
Have They gone berserk?
They say they are hurt seeing
the world in chaos, anarchy, and disobedience, and
all the earthlings have become unbridled.
Is discipline only for us?
Why should we be disciplined and organized?
We too need freedom to colour everything as per our will.
Mother Nature, as if frightened, warns us.
O earthlings, mend your ways, or
tomorrow you may see colors playing havoc.
You may witness
a black sky: yellow trees, blue flowers, purple water, strangely colored creatures,
if you are not disciplined.
If you behave arbitrarily, you will have to bear the consequences.
Then you can’t blame me.

Free Your Mind- What Do You See # 224

I forgive you for not being the way
I wanted you to be.
I forgive you, and I set you free.
I forgive myself for not being the way
the world wanted me to be, and
I set my mind free.

Just shut down chatter
Stop playing games to confuse
Let me think better
Let my consciousness guide me
Let my mind free from clutter

PROMPT WORD:   LOST

I got caught in the cobweb.

It was looking tempting, alluring.

That was my mistake, no complaints.

Now stuck, the web maker is playing, taking its own time.

I have lost the sense of time.

I want freedom either way.
