Two years ago today

I was sitting at my desk, answering phones when Gary Miller told me “I gave James your work number, so he may be calling.” Then he walked away going back to his work. I was kind of left speechless and nervous. Some guy I’ve never met, never seen and didn’t know that much about ( All I knew was he was a Christian, loved the Lord and was in the Army.) was going to call me. I answered every call nervously, very nervously. It was after I got back from lunch that I figured I was in the clear. But a short hour after my lunch break I got the call…

I answered…

” Good afternoon Corporate Express, how can I help you?” he said… “Hello, can I speak to Amber the Receptionist.” (chuckle, mixed with confusion)…”Speaking”…”Hi, this is James, Gary Miller told you I would call today.” …”oh yeah, umm Hi.”….”So how is your day?…”  (ring, ring) “Ummm can you hold on I’m getting another call.” …”yeah, sure”….(talking to a customer and transfer them)…back to James… “Thanks for waiting”…”no problem…so your probably busy.” ….”yeah a little” ….”well, I just wanted to ask you if you would like to go out for dinner tonight.”….”Uh ummm Uh TONIGHT?!” …”yeah, tonight.”…”Well, i have plans tonight. I have a youth group overnighter im helping with.” (whew, I’m clear!)…”hmm, well how about tomorrow night?!”….” Oh tomorrow night? umm (clears throat) well, we ummm can uhhh have coffee.” ….”Yes, sounds great! Can I have your phone number.”…”uh my PERSONAL NUMBER?!”….”Yeah, So I can call you after work and get directions to where you live.”…”Oh yeah, where I live…uhh can I give you my e-mail address (voice stuttering) aaaanndd my cell number.” (stupid Amber why did you just give him your e-mail address too!)…”Yeah, sure.”  (I give him my number and E-MAIL!)  “Well, I should get back to work.”…”Well, have a great day!”…”Thank you, you too.” …”Bye”…”Bye, talk to you later.”

Yeah that was pretty much how it all happened. Now here we are 2 years since we met. One year and 2 month since we said “I Do” and Three and a half months away from having our first Baby Boy. WOW. This time has just zoomed by.

I had butterflies in my stomach that night I met him and I still have butterflies in my stomach every time he calls me, writes me, hugs me, kisses me and is near me. I love you James. I love you More today, More tomorrow and More 50 years from now. My Heart is yours Love. I look back to that first night we met and I enjoyed every moment of it, from you opening every door for me, showing me your dance moves, sitting on the bed of your truck talking till midnight. I ENJOYED EVERY SECOND. God surely showered His goodness upon me that night, the night I met YOU! I Love you. Here’s to forever…

And Look what I just got! I still get butterflies…

I Love You

Today we met.

Happy Reformation Day!!!

On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his list of 95 theses to the door of the church in Wittenberg, Germany, and more or less unintentionally set into motion the series of events that we now call the Protestant Reformation. Roughly half of the Christians in the world today worship in churches that exist because of Luther’s actions.

I think that it is important to remember those who were persecuted, died and stood strong in the faith of Jesus Christ! We all have a role in church history! I pray that we Christians of the faith stand strong in perilous times. Stand firm in Jesus the author and finisher of our faith

QUOTES BY MARTIN LUTHER

“Faith is a living and unshakable confidence, a belief in the grace of God so assured that a man would die a thousand deaths for its sake.” M.L

“Blood alone moves the wheels of history.” M.L

“Faith is permitting ourselves to be seized by the things we do not see.” M.L

“I am afraid that the schools will prove the very gates of hell, unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures and engraving them in the heart of the youth.” M.L

“Grant that I may not pray alone with the mouth; help me that I may pray from the depths of my heart.” M.L

“I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.” M.L

“People must have righteous principals in the first, and then they will not fail to perform virtuous actions.” M.L

“Whatever your heart clings to and confides in, that is really your God.” M.L

“You are not only responsible for what you say, but also for what you do not say.” M.L

For such a time as this

Reading through Esther has lead to some comparisons to what is going on in the world today. Little by little Christians are being silenced either by choice or force, choosing to renounce conviction for convenience, choosing what they think is “best for mankind!” But forgetting the Man who died for mankind. In Esther 3-4 Haman is angered that Mordecai will not bow to him. Haman then sends out a decree to have the Jews destroyed.

“When Mordecai learned all that had happened, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the midst of the city. He cried out with a loud and bitter cry.” vs.1

Soon after Esther would learn of this decree that had went out and she became deeply distressed. Mordecai then told one of Esther’s eunuchs to go and deliver a message to her…

“And Mordecai told him all that had happened to him, and the sum of money that Haman had promised to pay into the king’s treasuries to destroy the Jews. 8He also gave him a copy of the written decree for their destruction, which was given at Shushan, that he might show it to Esther and explain it to her, and that he might command her to go in to the king to make supplication to him and plead before him for her people.”

The penalty for going into the inner court before the king was death! This was Esthers reply back to Mordecai- I will die if I enter the inner court uninvited. Mordecai’s response was so assured in the promise of his Lord.

And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. 14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Mordecai Knew that the Lord would deliver him and the Jews out of this time of trouble. But Esther was not to certain- she was already claiming that she would perish, and that if she did, that would be just that. But, Mordecai knew that relief and deliverance would come! And it did!

So, as there are thing’s going around in the world that are set as decrees to make things better or bring change. just because someone says I’m going to bring change doesn’t mean it’s a good thing

“For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.”   1 Thessalonians 5:3-6

Let us be cautious and watchful for those thing’s that try to creep in. Not only concerning world issues, but also in our personal lives and with our church families. We should always strive for unity within the body of Christ! Are we weeping as Mordecai did when he learned of the fate of his people?  We are here to pray and make a stand and be set apart – “for such a time as this!” I am needing and wanting to walk in this more and more, let’s do it together!

Much love!
