What’s to follow…

It has hurt my heart to hear of the news in California on Prop 8. I can only think…what’s to follow? Is it crazy to say that Churches are going to be closed down, Christians are going to get/are persecuted for standing up for what they believe. I must say that this will soon be the outcome…and there will be more to follow. Lord, all I can do is pray and seek to live righteously in my life and raise my family in a way that is honoring to You and not ourselves. Father in Heaven hear the cry of your people. Show us what is to follow, so we can better prepare ourselves to stand for You!

My Hero

I walked into the crowded gymnasium quickly scanning the room for those oh so familiar eyes of my husband. I saw him, I was locked into his gaze. I’m pretty sure I just floated to him. When we were face to face I kissed him and said I love you, he replied I love you. Then pointed me to a seat he saved for me. He is so thoughtful. I got my seat next to two friends and as they were talking all I could think about was him, the way he looked, talked to fellow soldiers, his stature and stance. I studied him and boy did I love it.

My husband was on a mission, a mission to do as he always prays he would do and that is “To do his job as unto the Lord.” And I could tell he had a task. He was focused, ready and as soon as he saw the man he needed to talk to he approached him with confidence and assurance. After that the ceremony began and a hush fell over the room as the soldiers boldly and proudly recited the soldiers creed.

I must admit I got a bit teary eyed as I heard all 400 or so soldiers say the soldiers creed. I thought of my husband. My hero.

My husband has a pretty big task right now. He’s having to make sure all 400 or so people get to where they need to be and to make sure that his bosses are aware and well informed of all these plans he is making. He has worked late nights, gone without lunch, had late dinners and gone above and beyond. I am proud of him. I am proud to call him my husband. I am glad that he is the leader of our household and that he gets things done at work and at home. I am extremely blessed to be under his leadership. I know that our family is blessed because of his faithfulness to our God.There really are no words, actions or sweet gestures that I can show my husband that  can amount to what he means to me and has been to me.

But, I pray Lord that you would have your mighty hand of favor and love upon my husband. Because he is my hero. And you are our God.

Eye opener

Michael Spotts is a guy I went to Bible College with. I fell upon his blog, via another Bible College friend. I was talking with my friend Nichole yesterday and confessed to her that If I ran into a christian that was like me I would be quite disappointed. After watching these videos and  reading the word I was convicted I had a burning in my heart. But that’s as far as it goes, a burning in my heart that says I need to do something. Hence the reason I would be disappointed if I ran into a christian like myself. So I urge you, Christians–I know I should be leading by example, but please let it be Christ’s example that you follow and not mine. Let us be on our watch, seasoned in the word, bold in our faith and ready to put to action what it is we say to our Savior during our worship, prayer and fellowship time! Let’s put our love in action.

A work in progress,

What is faithfulness?

Yesterday was a hard day. My faithfulness and trust in the Lord was put to the test, a very personal and emotional test. I must say that I failed. For a brief moment I questioned God’s will for our life. Today is a new day, a day that I will take on with trust in His providence. I have learned things from yesterday, that I will take with me today. As I was washing the dishes, (this is the place where the Lord seems to speak to me). Because like the dirty dish I was washing, I too come to Him as a dirty child who needs to be cleaned off. He reminded me of Jesus’ faithfulness. His faithfulness to the Father lead to His death. He was faithful unto death. I say I am a faithful follower. But, in my faithfulness to the Lord am I willing to go to death? Jesus’s death lead to our life. We too are to live the life of Christ, so that we can share that life with those that are dying. His life is the greatest testimony. I long to follow it, to breathe it, be it and adore it.

Lord, I am sorry for taking Your death for granted yesterday. You did not die on vain, nor with the intent of leaving me empty or broken. I look unto You, the Author and finisher of my faith.

“This is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

Our Home!!!

I am uber excited right now. I just got the call from Picerne that we got a house. After waiting for three months we have finally moved up the dreaded list. Not only did we get a house, but we got the house that I wanted. God is so GOOD! He totally blesses us with good gifts. So I have to start packing and then will go in after I get back from Missouri, for a tour of it to tell them if we’ll take it (which we will) and then get the keys. Boy-o-boy November is a fun and busy month. I couldn’t ask for more! Thank you Lord. I love you!

Here’s a picture of what our house looks like…more to come once we move in…

Isn’t it AMAZING!!! It’s a historical home and is full of character 🙂 I can’t wait to have visitors. I cant wait till James and I are in our new house. We have loved our first home together and have made nothing but good memories. We are looking forward to making more memories in our NEW, but old home!

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17

The true light

“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give it’s light; The stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then He will send His angles, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of the earth to the farthest part of heaven.” Mark 13:24-27

“Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.” mk. 13; 33

This morning as I read Mark 13 and then gazed out the window to see the sun come over the trees and houses. I thought of the verses above. I knew the sun would rise, because there was a glow beaming from It’s existance. I knew the place it would rise because It’s glow was brighter right over the horizon. I beheld it’s beauty as it made It’s way above to illuminate all in It’s path, to let the world know it is the light.

Then I thought about the true Light that would come into the earth and how the sun would be darkened and would not be seen, but instead the marvelous, glorious light will arise. But before that there needs to be a glow. Roll with me here… I knew that the sun was coming because of its glow over the horizon, I had not seen it, But I knew it was coming. I think that we as followers of Christ are that glow, or at least we should be. We need to be, like John the baptist, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight.'” Preparing the way of the Lord. We need to be telling people about the light, displaying the glow of the light for when He comes. Is our lives, our walk or words and thoughts a glow, a reflection of Christ?! I know that mine are not. But, Lord I desire to be in the light FOREVER, as You are in the light.

Happy Reformation Day!!!

On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his list of 95 theses to the door of the church in Wittenberg, Germany, and more or less unintentionally set into motion the series of events that we now call the Protestant Reformation. Roughly half of the Christians in the world today worship in churches that exist because of Luther’s actions.

I think that it is important to remember those who were persecuted, died and stood strong in the faith of Jesus Christ! We all have a role in church history! I pray that we Christians of the faith stand strong in perilous times. Stand firm in Jesus the author and finisher of our faith

I want to be…

I was thinking about the big change that’s going to be taking place in my life and thought of all the opportunities of thing’s I get to be in marriage. I have the greatest potential to be all these thing’s to James. I get to be a best friend,  advice giver,  lover, support, helper, chef, homemaker, future mommy to our kids and so much more. I, In Christ have great potential to be all these thing’s. And I desire to be.

I want to be what Jonathan was to David, What Boaz was to Ruth, What Esther was for her people, what Paul was for the unsaved and what Jesus is to me. I want to be all these thing’s in our marriage. I know I have some big shoes to fill (spiritually speaking) And it was no easy road for any of the examples I listed. But, In and through Christ All thing’s are possible.

Longing for more than what I have to give.

Isn’t she lovely

This little girl fills my heart with joy. I love her to pieces. She makes me laugh too.

Faith and I were hangin’ out yesterday Evening. She loves pictures, Which is great because I love taking them. She says “picture” and then makes a little clicky sound. She also says “I love it!” I seriously love this little girl. She makes me so happy after a hard day at work. It was nice to just sit with her and sing together.

Also, I would appreciate it if you would pray for her. She may have to have surgery on the back of her skull to cover up a soft spot. Which involves removing a part of her rib to do so. We are praying for a miracle! And are trusting the Lord has everything under control. Please join us as we pray everyday for this little girl. Because ” The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16

Love like it’s your last day to love.

Peace for everyday

The word PEACE is mentioned 369 times in the Bible. So He gives us peace everyday and throws in a little more. Cling to the peace that our Heavenly Father has given us–Through the death and Resurrection of the cross. It’s good to know that He gives us peace…not peace like the world. But a peace that surpasses all understanding. AMEN! Isn’t that cool?!

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

*because posts are better with pictures here’s one that’s quite peaceful…
