'Tis the season.......................

The Licking County Courthouse is all dressed up for the holiday.

Tonight was the 25th edition of "Sights & Sounds", a fund-raising walking tour of eight downtown churches.  Each of the eight offers up a bit of Christmas music and cheer.  Several hundreds of local folk braved the chilly night air for the tour.  It has become a fun tradition.

Granville Turkey Trot.....................

My Sweetie has been co-chair of the Granville Turkey Trot for a while now.  The 5k run/trot/walk/waddle event, held Thanksgiving mornings, draws a good crowd.  Despite temperatures hovering around freezing, over 2,000 friendly folk participated this morning.  This is the twentieth year for the event; it has become a family tradition.  The Granville Turkey Trot is also a fund-raiser.  All of the money goes to the Food Pantry Network of Licking County.  Last year the committee wrote them a check for around $130,000.  My Sweetie is hoping they top that this year.

Sevilla........................

We spent four nights in Sevilla and loved every minute of it.  Of course, it was the time of the Feria, which made it even more fun.

fun............................

He had these enthusiasms for his projects and his future—his present.  It was not as if you had to deny yourself in the present for the future.  The focus was on how interesting things are today, how much fun to see them built.  It was so much fun being in the moment.  That's what he always communicated.

Having fun with 107,000 friendly folks..........

A friend offered two tickets to the OSU-Penn State game last Saturday noon.  Hard to pass that up.  Seats were pretty fantastic.  Game wasn't bad either.  An experience worth having.

Band passed the spelling quiz again.

embracing............................

Makes you wonder, today as people endlessly “pursue perfect” — the perfect family vacation, the perfect athletic experience, the perfect house, the perfect life, are we missing the point? Instead of “searching for perfect”, should we instead be searching for unique experiences and embracing whatever this pursuit brings?

The Queen City.................

My Sweetie and I ventured to Cincinnati over the weekend.  We both agreed we could live comfortably in the downtown area (if we could figure out how to have a garden).  Lots going on. It also appeared that there is a concentrated effort to restore many of the grand old buildings, of which Cincinnati has many.  Fun time.  Highly recommended.

One of the first stops was the Rhinegeist Brewery
Took the tour and drank their beer (or tea).  Our
guide said that the Over-The-Rhine district in the
city got its name back in the canal days.  A canal
separated the breweries from the residential district.
The early workers tended to be Germans. They
named the canal after the Rhine River in their
homeland.  Going to work, they had to go over
the "Rhine". Can't verify the truth, but it makes a
good story.  Good beer too.

The guide books say that the Findlay Market is
pretty special.  We went. Pretty cool.  Big crowd
for a Saturday afternoon.

Seeking some shade in Washington Park, we
stopped to enjoy kids playing in the fountain.

Cincinnati is known for its murals.  Rightly so.

Some new architecture to go with the old

A controversial sculpture of our 16th president,

Pretty busy coffee

Is there anything man-made more perfect than
a baseball diamond?  90 feet between bases,
60' 6" from the mound to the plate.  Timeless.

Mascots messing around pre-game entertaining

Forgot the sun screen.  Only bad idea of the weekend
