You will love fruit pizza!
Fruit Pizza is the perfect combination of flavors and textures — chewy sugar cookie crust, smooth and creamy “sauce”, and tangy, juicy fruit to top it off.
It’s one of those recipes that looks significantly more difficult than it actually is — and it’s a fun way to use your creativity in the kitchen. It’s also fun for kids to help.
Fruit Pizza can be a great way to use up in-season berries, or a special treat (although slightly more expensive) in the off-season, when fresh fruit isn’t as plentiful.

I recently made fruit pizza for a family birthday celebration, and it was a hit.
The leftovers were delicious as a fun breakfast the next morning!
We love this easy recipe for Fruit Pizza… and I hope you will too!

Ingredients for Fruit Pizza
- 16 oz. sugar cookie dough (half of my recipe or store-bought works great!)
- 1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- an assortment of fresh or canned fruit (frozen doesn’t work as well)

Ingredient Substitutions
Try Snikerdoodle cookie dough for the crust if you want a little cinnamon flavor. Or try any of your favorite cookie dough — as long as you think it would pair well with the fruit you plan to use.
Mix up some fun cream cheese if you want to create a new flavor profile — there are so many cream cheese options out there these days!
As for fruit topping, use what you have in the house, what’s in season, or simply whatever your favorite fruits are.
We love berries — and berries work well because they aren’t overly juicy or liquidy.
Mandarin oranges, pineapple, and kiwis look great but can be juicy, so I make sure to dry them longer on a paper towel to absorb extra liquid.
Grapes and bananas work well, but the bananas may get brown.
Melons, peaches, and apples are not great for fruit pizza… and frozen fruit is usually too liquidy, so I do not advise using frozen fruit.

How To Make Fruit Pizza
1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
2. Press sugar cookie dough into a pizza pan, tart pan, pie plate, or even a 9″ x 13″ pan (you can also make individual cookies).
3. Bake the crust in a preheated oven for 8-12 minutes, depending on the size of your pan and the thickness of your dough (you don’t want it overdone).

4. Let the crust cool completely.
5. While the crust cools, wash and slice up your favorite fruits and lay them on paper towels to remove excess liquid.
6. In a small bowl, mix softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla.

7. Spread cream cheese mixture over cooled cookie crust.

8. Top cream cheese mixture with your washed and prepared fruit (feel free to get creative).

9. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate for later.
Fruit Pizza Variations
The recipe for fruit pizza is extremely versatile… so my measurements are not exact. However,if you can bake a cookie and slice fruit, you can make fruit pizza!
When deciding on what pan to use, simply consider the size of the group you’re feeding.
If you’re feeding a crowd, go with a pizza pan. For a smaller group, you could use a tart pan, a traditional pie plate, or a 9″ x 13″ pan.
If you have creative kids, make a bunch of individual cookie fruit pizzas and let everyone decorate their own.

Notes
Here's my delicious recipe for sugar cookies... you can use half this recipe for a pizza pan or a third of the recipe for a smaller tart pan. I usually make a big batch of cookie dough, divide it up, and freeze it for whenever I want to make fruit pizza (or sugar cookies).
Also, our favorite fruits for fruit pizza are berries, mandarin oranges, and kiwi, but many other fruits will work.

Can You Make It Ahead?
Aside from being slightly addictive, the only bad thing about this recipe is that it’s not a great “make-ahead” recipe.
I would not suggest making this recipe more than 1 day in advance (it’s best if you make it the day you will eat it).
However, if you need to work ahead, you can prepare the individual components in advance.
- Prepare and bake the crust, then freeze for later or cover and let sit at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- Prepare the cream cheese “sauce” 2-3 days ahead, then cover and refrigerate until ready to assemble.
- Wash and slice fuit the day before. Refrigerate until ready to assemble.
NOTE: You’ll want to remember to let your cream cheese sauce come to room temperature before you try to spread it over the crust, and you’ll want to dry your cut fruit before assembling.

Love Fruit Pizza!
We usually save the juice from the mandrine oranges or pineapple and use some cornstarch and a bit of sugar (?) and a bit of water to make a “glaze” to go over the fruit – it keeps my fruit from turning brown. I don’t have that recipe on me right now, but I can post it later.

yup!! I think I’ve heard of that before too. I’ve also seen recipes for using tapioca pudding and fruit juice. It’s “lumpy” but still good!

I made this for my 4th of July birthday with blueberries and strawberries and it was a hit!

yummmmm– it’s a great summertime dessert!

Thanks for sharing. My toppings would not look as artistic, but I doubt the kids will care 🙂

Yum! I’ve never made a fruit pizza! I’ve had them at potlucks and other get togethers and they always taste so good. It’s amazing how simple it is. I’m might have to try it.
