What I'm...

Tuesday night, 10:55 PM

What I'm feeling: Stress. I am working late to catch up on the things I missed while sick. The pile feels insurmountable.
What I'm thinking: How do people use a computer without using shortcuts? They make life easier.
What I'm wishing: I was at home squeezing my sweet baby's cheeks before bedtime.
What I'm eating: Water. New food plan - no solid food after 9pm.
What I'm reading: The Bonesetter's Daughter, by Amy Tan
What I'm wearing: Jeans and a free Vivint t-shirt, of course.
What I'm looking forward to: Sleep.

Thank you, Jennifer, for the excuse to return to my blog.

Game On - Day 1

Today is the first day of our Game On challenge.

First, I am coming off a migraine from Labor Day weekend.
Second, I woke up with a terribly soar throat and a head-cold.
Third, three liters is a lot of freaking water!

I think I can... I think I can... I think I can... I think I can...

GAME ON 2013

I accepted Faith's challenge. I entered Game On 2013, and I had to put my money where my mouth was.

The Game On diet works off accountability and competition. Everyone pays a $10 entry. You then work with your team (those who will hold you accountable) to beat all other teams (your competition) for cash and other prizes.

There are several elements to the game and each element is worth points. Some elements are standardized while others are chosen by the individual participant to address his or her specific needs/goals/desires. Here is the breakdown:

Standard
1. Sleep at least 6 hours a night.
2. Drink 3 liters of water a day.
3. Exercise 20+ minutes a day.
4. Communicate with one team member and one non-team member every day.
5. Weigh-in once a week.

Personalized
6. Pick a meal plan/diet and stick to it.
7. Incorporate a new good habit.
8. Eliminate an existing bad habit.

Extras - extra points can be earned by paying your entry fee before competition begins, reporting your weekly scores on time, losing weight, etc.

This could be fun. Right now, it sounds hard. I can do each of those things individually. Can I do all of them?every day? for six weeks? We shall see.

WEEK 2 - Saturday

Spent an awesome day with the Woodard family and Deer Creek Reservoir. I didn't do anything particularly active, but spending many hours in the sun has to count toward a fitness challenge... right??

Ugh. I still haven't pulled out the free weights, and I haven't done any other activities either. I'm pretty much failing at this six week challenge.

Faith asked me to join her for a Game On challenge starting after Labor Day. It is also 6 weeks. Perhaps I should do that...

WEEK 2 - Thursday

I made some healthier food choices today, but still drank 40+ ounces of Coke.
Don't worry. I skipped dessert and ran 2.3 miles.

Now I need to dig out the free weights from the basement... or garage... or linen closet...
I can't run every day. Weights will be my off-day activity. Wish me luck!

WEEK 2 - Wednesday

Ate like crap. Felt like crap.
Skipped dessert and ran 2.2 miles.
Feeling better...
