From the Heart

12 08 2009

Just over the weekend here in Karachi, as I was working through the book of Hebrews, I just thought I’d capture something of what impressed upon my heart in a few verses of a simple composed poem to my Lord. Here is it’s little expression…

The blood of the Lamb was shed for me,
Up on a hill called Calvary,
Behold the King who willingly,
laid down His life to set me free

Once for all and never again,
He died for all and to regain,
what we had lost in that great fall,
forgive and wash our darkest stains

Boldly to thy throne I now approach,
There’s no more guilt, no more reproach,
Join in the praise and heavenly refrain,
Worthy, worthy is the Lamb that was slain.

*I know I haven’t written in ages. Work commitments and a dearth of ideas kinda does that to one every now and then. Thanks for still popping by to visit my humble online outlet of thoughts despite it’s barren nature*

Priced Down

It doesn't get better than this

It doesn't get better than this!

I’m the kind of guy who likes to share good news. I just popped by Centricity a few minutes ago and was more than a little surprised  at what I saw with regards to my favourite band. All this while it’s only been available on iTunes (unpurchasable in Malaysia) or only on CD, so i’ve been waiting for them to offer the purchasable digital download. To my big delight, the entirety of Downhere’s latest album “Ending is Beginning” was going for $0.99 USD. If you were to buy each individual track, it’d cost you the exact same price ‘per’ track. Individually downloading all 13 tracks would set you back by almost $13 USD ( a price i was very willing to pay) . Go to:

http://www.centricitymusic.com/site/

then go to “Store” and proceed onto the digital download link image. Just keep going even though there may be the message “item temporarily out of stock”.

It’s a basic checkout and registration page you have to fill in with your valid credit card … and upon successful confirmation, you’ll be directed to the download page in your confirmation email. [for shipping state/province, i chose ‘Armed Forces Pacific’ .. it doesn’t matter]

Don’t know how long the price will stay this way. But, I can say that only Downhere does these kind of thing … as you may have witnessed in my earlier posting many months back when they actually offered their previous album absolutely free for download in preparation for this current album. It’s a very very decent sounding album (from the ones I’ve sampled thus far). Check out “How many Kings”.

*I’m still downloading my tracks at the point of writing this post … deliriously happy of course*

p.s. use Internet Explorer, somehow the checkout page fails using my usual Mozilla Firefox.

Grace

29 04 2009

Grace! tis a charming sound,

harmonious to the ear,

Heav’n with the echo shall resound,

and all the earth shall hear.

O let Thy grace inspire my soul

with strength divine,

May all my powers to thee aspire

and all my days be thine.

Saved by grace alone!

This is all my plea:

Jesus died for all mankind,

And Jesus died for me.

Daily Walking

22 10 2008

There are days when you feel spiritually down. Days when you feel you’ve succumbed one too many a time and not brought honor to the Lord, very well knowing that it was because you chose not to walk circumspectly. They can be very dreary times indeed. Though this ought not to be the regular experience of the believer, we cannot deny that we wouldn’t face such seasons in our lives. But with our gracious Lord, it’s always about loving discipline, then our repentance, renewal and restoration. We should not stay in the doldrums (getting uncomfortably comfortable there), we should rise up to our feet and continue on with the journey. I believe there really might be no such thing as static Christianity, you’re either going backwards or forward.

How necessary it is for us to begin each day right being reminded that “.. they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:24-25. Each day we must start afresh, and thankfully His mercies are just as refreshingly new every morning (Lam 3:22-23). We don’t run on yesterday’s fill or supply, it’s granted day by day, much like the provision of manna in the wilderness to the children of Israel. Thinking about these things, this old song came to my mind this morning, a much cherished song which reminds me that my life in Christ is a daily walk.

Just a Closer Walk With Thee

I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, dear Lord close to Thee.

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

Oh Lord, may i give this day to Thee.

How Time Flies

18 01 2008

faded-clock.jpg I was listening back to one of the earliest compositions I wrote in my first year of university. I remember clearly telling myself back then that i desired to write in view of how I wanted to look back on my past, once i reached the future. The one thing I would truly loathe would to be left realizing that they were wasted years. Now, that was around 10 years ago. To be blatantly honest, I’m looking back on some it right now and realize that there has already been a lot of wasted time. Though there has been some progress, i definitely can’t miss the indiscipline and lack of devotion shown for the Lord, my mixed priorities and misguided pursuits. I don’t know how much more time God has granted to me here on this momentary journey called life. Oh Lord, please help me make this life count for you. All the rest of it.

Ecclesiastes 12:1 “And remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw nigh, of which thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them”

Fade…
Peering through
the hour glass of time
Life’s a limerick
a poem with a funny rhyme

The honor i strived for
finding no satisfaction
I’m always wanting more

Chorus:

A chase for earthly things
I stumble on the pressure
laid upon my wings
of a life i’d never seen as…
a chasing after the wind

I thought the hands of time
could slowly erase
the swift mistakes of mine
But they could never be erased
by a fading memory of my mind

Chorus

Bridge
(don’t forget your youth will surely fade
as certain, as certain as your days) x2
one day you’ll awake and say
what’s it all about…
what’s it all about.
