Drone 2 Free Assault
Ratings & Reviews
Something about this game is seriously incomplete. There’s only really 6 or so different levels that you play over and over (compare this with the original), and they all have the same tasks...they never really change. You don’t get missions to complete on replays that spiced up the levels in the first game. All the weapons are fairly new and interesting (at least, compared to how they worked previously). But you don’t get a lot of time to use them. Each mission takes 30 seconds at best, and on occasion a mission takes more than that.Upgrading your weapons is also needlessly complicated. You get gems and cash; that’s what you use. Cash you get from missions, gems from waiting and sometimes missions, and through 3 PvP matches at a time (you have to wait for recharges, ugh). You can get more gems by upgrading your base. And buying them? Well, say goodbye to the easy way of getting new weapons in the first game...they basically want you to pay up, because every other method is slow and a drop compared to the costs you have to overcome (ads only give 2, you only get 5 ads a day, that’s basically your gold income...weapons cost 50 at minimum...)Not to mention, like so many other games...your progress gets soft-locked after 30 minutes because you get limited play throughs. The new gameplay elements are great...but they’d be much better given the original format of the first game; various zones, several levels in each, and AT LEAST 6 missions per level (the original had 9-15 per level...) AND NO SOFT-LOCKS that I have to wait for, seriously, it’s a crappy way of enticing people to play games...and unfortunately, it works on people...
This is really a fun little game but it is clearly designed for those who want to spend lots of money to upgrade. You have to constantly upgrade your weapons to unlock more levels. Often the only way to upgrade them is through gold which is available in a few missions in small amounts, earned very, very slowly at the home screen, out by paying real money for it. I was able to play the game for about a week and now I can check on it every day to collect a few gold bars but it takes a few weeks to earn enough to upgrade a weapon. Once I upgrade it unlocks 1-2 missions and then I have to wait again. I am just about ready to give up on playing. The developer needs to offer other options to earn gold such as a daily mission or a set of daily goals that once reached gives you more gold or unlocks the weapons for you. A special mission each week that if passed rewarded you with a special weapon would be nice too.
Not a bad game. But was a huge disappointment though. And compared to “shadow strike: drone”, which I assume is its predecessor. Is a just not up to par. In the first drone game it was simple and made a great game. This one on the other hand; was a mistake. The menus are not user friendly, the weapons upgrade system is a bit confusing, the sound fx are not very good, and the crisp smooth gameplay was sacrificed for flashy animations and cutscenes. I also hate the concept of “qualifying” for missions, as well as spending money to make money (the gem vault for example). This was clearly a cash grab trying to milk the success of the previous drone game. And the players suffered for it. I recommend you play “shadow strike: drone” instead of this... much better gameplay. But if you’re like me, and have tried this game because you have beaten shadow strike, you will be disappointed at the differences.
The problem is by the time you get to missions that require upgraded weapons you can't beat them not with all the stock weapons even upgraded to the max, therefore forcing you to buy new ones that are ridiculously over priced even compared to the first drone shadow strike. Seriously, stop being money hungry. It's bull!!!I would give this game five stars in a minute if it did not cost so much for ingame gold. It's a well put together game awfully like "shadow strike" with a wide variety of weapons to choose from. But of course I will never be able to choose from any of these due to the fact that just buying a load out for one ship is around $50. Which is ridiculous considering an Xbox one game is only 60. Used between five and $30 so please lower the price and you'd be at a five-star no problem!
Don't get me wrong; this game is fun. It just doesn't have that I am flying in a drone fill like the first Drone Strike did. Graphics are a little more cartoony compared to first game. Sounds like they did use the same actor for voiceover as in the first. It just feels like this game is lacking something. I find myself playing for shorter amounts of time then I did with the first. I can't put my finger on what Relliance did that makes the second Drone Strike not as good as the first. All in all though it still is a quick fix if you want to kill some bad guys. Also the upgrade system is lacking!
I've played the game, all 3 levels of it (yes, only 3). There's no new levels added, there's no new vehicles added. It's like they developed it for the people that only want to play a game for a week. The repeatable missions are ok, but there's only 1 or 2 options, so you basically do the same thing over and over again. Also, once you max out base levels, you can accumulate gems, but once you max out base level, everything is just a waste. Don't waste your time till they're willing to put some time and effort into the game.
