(NKJV)

As a facilitator at my church, I found the NKJV The Bible Study Bible to be a great resource. I appreciated the studies for each chapter of the Bible. The sections are short which helps to make the Bible only about the size of your average Bible. Each study includes a Start, Grow, and Go section.

The Start section asks a personal question pertaining to that chapter, and an activity to help you absorb the information. The Grow section asks a question related to that chapter, along with an Explore to help you further explore that chapter. The Go section enables you to personalize what you studied that day.

My overall feeling about this Bible is I love that there are 2 ribbons and I like the 9.5 comfort print. I believe the hardback Bible is durable and it will last, it is easy to use. I give The Bible Study Bible 5*/5*. I would recommend it to homeschools and anyone wanting a deeper study of each book of the Bible.

The NIV Student Bible simplifies the complexities of Scripture and helps students navigate and understand God’s truth.

The NIV Student Bible is specifically designed to help students understand and navigate the Bible text with tools like a 3-Track Reading Plan, book introductions, highlights and insights into confusing verses, and personal profiles of 100 People You Should Know. In the Guided Tour, author Philip Yancey takes readers on a journey through the Bible, highlighting important passages that show how the Bible is connected from Genesis all the way to Revelation.

My Thoughts:

I love the layout and structure of this NIV Student Bible for teens and young adults. The text is great for this age group. The special content includes a 3-Track reading plan. Track 1: Introduction to the Bible. Track 2: A guided tour of the Bible. Track 3: Every word in the Bible. There are also book introductions, overviews of each book, and background information on key passages. Of special interest would also be the personal profiles of 100 people Christians should know.

My overall feeling about the NIV Student Bible is that it is informative and easy to use. It’s also durable and would make a great addition to Christian schools or homeschools.

Resurrection Hope (Mitchell L Chase)

Resurrection Hope is a short study in biblical theology by Mitchell L Chase. Mitchell L Chase is an associate professor of biblical studies at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Resurrection Hope is designed to help readers see a unified story culminating in Christ Jesus. It is organized into seven chapters. Each chapter reveals the resurrection’s hope. I, therefore, believe the purpose of the book is to inform readers of the resurrection hope we have.

Resurrection Hope is divided into Old and New Testaments. Chapters 1-3 investigate the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings. Chapters 4-7 investigate the Gospels, Acts, the Letters, and Revelation.

At first, I was concerned about reading biblical theology, would I understand it? No worries, it is written in terms the layperson can understand. I appreciate reading how the resurrection hope is a theme throughout the Bible.

I give Resurrection Hope 5*/5*

Bible Study · James

Praying In Faith (James 5:13-20)

My friends, count it all joy when you are going through trials of various kinds. You are being refined by God. Pray with faith. Come before the Lord in humility and prayer. Remember, God is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do. James so fittingly ends his letter with a call to pray.

God hears us and He cares. We pray to God in our need, in gratitude, adoration, in petition, and in intercession. It’s not wrong to express our doubts or struggles with the Lord. It’s okay to lament to Him for the suffering we are enduring. We are not to direct our struggles toward one another in the form of complaints and murmuring. Jesus prayed a prayer of lament in the garden of Gethsemane.

Praise the Lord as you go about your way, lift your hands in worship, and do some dancing as King David did. You can have cheerfulness of heart, whether in good times or bad.

Praise God for who He is. Everything is going to be okay.

Are you suffering? Have the elders of the church pray for you. In the Old Testament oil was used to set people apart for God. So anointing someone with oil is saying, “Lord, we set this person apart for your special attention and care.” If the person isn’t healed that doesn’t mean they don’t have enough faith. But, we believe God is able to heal. And, even if He doesn’t, we still believe.

To pray with power takes a human being, who is righteous by Christ, who is humble and full of faith. Your prayers have power. So, why do humans tend to go to prayer last? Perhaps we want to be in control. Elijah was a righteous person whose prayers were righteous and effective. We don’t have to be perfect or consistent. We just have to be willing.

Remember, Jesus is at the door. It seems a long time, but in just a moment’s time, we will all be together for all eternity. Our suffering is just for a little while. Even the best things will be nothing compared to our eternity with Jesus. Every day we should remind ourselves of Jesus’ soon coming. It will affect the way we live if we meditate on that.

Thank you for following along as we studied the book of James together. May I suggest that as a wrap up you read through James in one sitting? God bless and thank you. May His grace be upon you.
