Where my playwrights at?

Lol.

I started checking out what it is to write a play because something I want to explore creatively, feels like it would make a better play.

However the challenge is, playwriting isn’t exactly my medium. Or at least not the one I’ve been working at. Filmmaking is.

However, after mom’s death, I’m loyal to nothing. Life is short. So if something  piques my interest, I’m on it. Who cares? We’ll all be taking a dirt nap soon, so why not try ALL the things that call to you now?

Repost From Seth Godin’s Blog – The Humility Of The Artist

Note from Godtisx: reposting because I love this and thought some of you might too.

————————————————————————————————–

It seems arrogant to say, “perhaps this isn’t for you.”

When the critic pans your work, or the prospect hears your offer but doesn’t buy, the artist responds, “that’s okay, it’s not for you.” She doesn’t wheedle or flip-flop or go into high pressure mode. She treats different people differently, understands that she is working to delight the weird, not please the masses, and walks away.

Isn’t that arrogant?

No. It’s arrogant to assume that you’ve made something so extraordinary that everyone everywhere should embrace it. Our best work can’t possibly appeal to the average masses, only our average work can.

Finding the humility to happily walk away from those that don’t get it unlocks our ability to do great work.

To Those Who Give A Damn About My Presence Here…

I realize how fleeting or impermanent, interests or bonds via a blog can be, but I think I’ve made some really interesting connections here, which I care to keep. So, I will be doing that.

I simply won’t be doing that with the frequency I may have managed before (in fact some of you may have noticed me slowly fading, doing more and more reblogs, instead of writing, though I make a big effort to visit the blogs of those who have defined themselves as interested in an interaction or whose blogs I simply revel in). *Whew.* Thanks for getting through that last sentence!

Anyway, the time has come for me to do the hard work of building my next production, complete with partners, production professionals, following, info on progress for those who will want to know it, etc., So I will splitting my time between WordPress and those efforts. Therefore here less? Still today, I will start making the rounds to update my visits to your blogs but my posts here after may scale down for a while. However, I will make sure to post updates for any interested person  every 3 weeks or so,  during self prescribed BREAKS. And during those breaks, make rounds to see what you are up to. So I am not gone, completely. Just need to get started, really started, on Glo now.

10 Minute Plays…..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2nGFWYXuq8

Weren’t those cool? I’ve decided to play (no pun intended) around with play writing. So I’ve starting to watch some short ones and picked up a book about play writing. Why not right? Sometimes jumping into another medium takes the pressure off the one you’re at.

Next, I want to go see some 10 minute ones LIVE. I wonder where and when the festivals around here are?

Gonna google it, but time for some work now.

Thank-you dmented1 (saving the writer)

Thank-you dmented1 (saving the writer)

Reminder for me. Lol.

Number 9 is the bullet for the writer-filmmaker in me, and a bouquet for the fuzzy lover side of me.

And they fight, all the time.

But I wanna thank dmented1 for posting this gem.

It was good to read. Good for the more rebellious side of me to eye. I am tempted to make nice, digestible, comfortable art, when fuzzy lover is empowered.

Rebel fights like hell (the writer), but it’s a war because fuzzy generally thinks what I’m writing is gonna win me hate, so I oughta write what I think viewers can stomach! So she wars to keep the peace, which alotta people like.

She likes being “in,” with people and thinks rocking any boat is “bad.” I’d keep quiet and write no script, or shoot no film, if it were up to her. She whispers in my ear about every plot point, thread of dialogue and character choice as I scribble anything.

She’s high on love. High as the sky.

So that monster sometimes wins, til days later – when I reread what I’ve written. This is generally why it takes people so long to see anything from me.

(Inner) war is hard.

So this is ammunition for turbulent times.

Thanks again dmented1!

Great Philosophy (Activist Quote)

We should always help people that have less power than we, and we should always challenge people who have more power. We should always be suspicious of all power, especially any we get ourselves. ~Nick Clooney (George Clooney’s father)
