Shhhhh

On the war path to raise money for a film (not my favourite part) right now, so I need all the inspiration I can get.

I heard this at a film festival a few days ago and it was weaponized inspiration (ha). In surround sound, this is soooooooooooooo GOOD!

Exactly what you want your soundtrack to do – stick with the audience long after credits even roll.

They’re called “April Snow” and are my secret north star. Shhhh.

Talent

From my composer wishlist.

Another Piece of Wonder (Composition)

Okay I know this blog is practically almost a composer appreciation blog now. I don’t mean it.

No seriously, just wanted to share and make a record for myself of this.

This composition is an event.

#LeSigh

I am going to work with these guys, later or sooner.  I JUST started fleshing something out today, I thought they’d be perfect on (under certain scenes). I even envisioned how I’d start the story, their music playing.

This is gonna sound stupid, but sometimes I feel a collaboration with certain people is meant. Like a spiritual puzzle piece finding its way into the proper slot.

Two Steps From Hell sort of feel that way to me, I just imagined a collaboration much further off.

But today as I wrote, their music felt right. Then as I figured the timeline for the work (that’s if my new job goes well and I am making a decent paycheck), meaning when I’d like to shoot, I wondered how easy it would be to contact them. So I checked out their website.

EASY.

So I’m going to pitch them when I have the log lines (some of you voted on my latest so you know what that is now). And they might suggest I send them rough cut which I absolutely will, as I figure out what this is gonna cost. Of course.

Now the reason why the starting filmmaker has to do as powerful a work as she can.

So much can happen if you get it there, sometimes people work with you – if they’re moved.

Ah, I’m babbling.

Wanna see their site: http://www.twostepsfromhell.com/

Isn’t it so accessible like? I thought it would be really clinical and expensive looking and I’d click right out. Like …”NOPE ya can’t afford them.” Probably still can’t, but they were nice enough to have someone make a site that is encouraging.

If I couldn’t write or direct, I’d want to compose music…

…for film.

This is an extraordinary piece of work. Wonderful. This group, takes your breath away….

Fun Composition from BoC (#1 Wishlist)

I love this. Another Boards of Canada song.

I love it, cuz it sounds like someone pulled their kids one day, deciding to play a little game with them in the studio. Recorded what was going on, then cut it up and mixed it into music later!

I wonder if that’s what they did?

Anyway, it’s TOTALLY something I’d do, if I had kids.

I just feel you should involve them in mommie and daddy’s life, let them experience what you’re doing.

Have fun with it.

My mother was great about this when I was growing up, and I loved every minute of it. I was also really proud to spend time in her business with her. I was tremendously proud of her as a person (now retired). Still am….

Life was an adventure with her, and I think it’s a great idea to exercise with children.

Anyway, wasn’t that great?!?

More great compositions from film scenes

I love this one for how it helps build tension right up to the climax  – always hinting at the tone of what you’re watching.

The violin composition here  does the same and is very sexy in how it accompanies the visual interplay.

Finally from GWTDT, I love how atmospheric this one is….

Hope that was good for you… :))

More Reasons Why Composers are Life Altering

I think this composition, called ‘Turning Page,’ encompasses the complete emotion of the scenes it was used for in the film “Breaking Dawn,” plus thematically it fits the style of the film (coming-of-age-love-story).

Listen to the arrangement, it is absolutely perfect.

Lovely.

This is a really talented composer, one whose inner sense of sound met the challenge of synthesizing with the visual play to produce this piece.

At no point does the piece depart from the emotion created onscreen, which is pretty big accomplishment.

Often times a score will dominate or disappear so far into the background it needn’t be there. But this does neither.

This composer deserves the best career…
