Break for Anime?

This is a great time for writing, for escaping it all. And I have escapes from my escapes.

Right now, I’m penning an anime series alongside a last rewrite of a live-action feature film. But it took foreeeeeeever to get started writing it, because I didn’t really know how to structure one. I wasn’t too sure what the needed elements might be… but… funny thing… I forgot I started as an animator. I went the flip book, animation focus in high school, major in college route, before falling in love with live action filmmaking and betraying animation (my first love lol).

So I do have some idea how to create dynamic scenes. And I’ve been working on storytelling for so long now – I hope I know how to tell a good one by now.

But you know what the most surprising thing is so far? It’s fun!

It’s not the primary genre I work in, so I feel like I have alot of room to play and mess up. Do whatever.

Let it be great, or not.

Weren’t those cool? I’ve decided to play (no pun intended) around with play writing. So I’ve starting to watch some short ones and picked up a book about play writing. Why not right? Sometimes jumping into another medium takes the pressure off the one you’re at.

Next, I want to go see some 10 minute ones LIVE. I wonder where and when the festivals around here are?

Gonna google it, but time for some work now.

This time let the wind up toy unwind
Let her
Be real
Let her reveal

What makes her mad
And makes her sad
Let her be
Bad

Not just a toy producing
Like
Love
Enjoyment
Support
Approval
Hurrays
Sun rays

For your dark room
Let her into the doom
Don’t keep her in a cocoon
Til you’re in your tomb

Only then can the play
Be more than what you say
Let it go come what may

Let her face all of your days
Otherwise none of this pays
So take in some of her ways
Don’t leave it all to age

With everyone around for what you wind them up

It’ll leave you in a rut
and kick them in the gut

So don’t put up such a fuss
and kill off all the trust
or let both of you rust
in your roles.

With fire burning brighter than all of the gym

He’s older than the rest of them

A look that says donโ€™t mess with him

But Iโ€™m about to commit a sin

No better yet make him a friend

Still I donโ€™t know where to begin

I swear I might as well be ten

Then he looks and it’s a test

Conjure up courage to kill the stress
