What a day hosting our first FlexForward event! On 6 May we welcomed customers from Petfood, Fresh Food and Coffee along with machine suppliers and industry experts to our FlexStudios in Steinfeld. The goal was clear: create an open space to exchange on R&D, circularity, PPWR and the future of flexible packaging. Our highlights from the day: ✔️First-hand insights from our in-house R&D and sustainability experts   ✔️A retailer’s lens on packaging transformation from Tesco’s Lead Packaging Manager Paul Earnshaw  ✔️A powerhouse panel with Paul Earnshaw (Tesco), Stephan Roest (Borealis) and Regis LABRUE (CETEC) about tackling the real challenges of moving our industry toward circularity  ✔️Exciting presentations by Maximilian Hahnenkamp from ScavengerAI and Lulu Wallis from Notpla, showing how AI tools can accelerate packaging innovation  ✔️And of course: behind‑the‑scenes live insights through the FlexStudios CEC and R&D Centre    Travis Strom, Packaging Engineer at Freshpet, put it best: “I am truly impressed by the FlexStudios and the range of possibilities you offer. A major step forward for sustainable packaging just went live in Hamburg. Last week we’ve joined the opening of traceless materials’ first industrial production facility that marks a critical step in turning material innovation into real-world impact. It was fantastic to be part of the opening ceremony and celebrate this important milestone together with everyone involved. In close collaboration with traceless, we are developing a plant-based, fossil free alternative from agricultural by-products that helps reduce plastic use and supports more circular packaging systems. We believe partnerships are key to scaling sustainable solutions and our collaboration with traceless is a strong example of how innovation can move from idea to industrial application. Congratulations to Anne Lamp, Sina Spingler, Jakob Röskamp and the entire traceless team as well as our colleagues Marko Bill Schuster, Hendrik Benecke and Falk Paulsen on reaching this milestone. We’re proud to be part of this journey.

PPWR will accelerate the transition to sustainable packaging — and 98% of our flexible packaging portfolio already has a circular solution in place or in development. Last week at interpack, our Consumer Flexibles COO Eveline Wagner joined Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE) to share how Mondi is helping customers navigate the transition to circular packaging — and what it takes to scale these solutions across Europe. From mono-material plastics to paper-based composites designed for recycling, Eveline highlighted that there is more than one route to sustainability. How do you make moisture-sensitive detergent packaging more circular without compromising performance? Together with Dreco, we’ve developed a solution that shows it’s possible. Our new re/loop PillowBag structure contains 50% mechanically recycled content, while still delivering the protection, print quality and consumer experience required for moisture-sensitive powder detergent applications. The result? A high-performance packaging solution now on shelves across Germany, helping Dreco reduce its reliance on virgin plastics and move closer to upcoming EU recycled content requirements. It’s a strong example of what can happen when expertise, partnership and a shared commitment to circularity come together. Proud to share another packaging success! 📦 Two innovative corrugated solutions from our Polish colleagues have been recognised at the Ukrainian Packaging Star awards. 💚 ♻️ Re3useBox – Three chances to do it right! An innovative circular solution developed by Artur Kwiatkowski that enables three uses lifecycles in one box—reducing waste and material use supporting PPWR targets. Fully recyclable, biodegradable, and designed for easy return via mailboxes or parcel lockers. 🍔 Integrated Freezing Box Developed by Marcin Streflik, this solution eliminates double co-packing time by enabling freezing of food directly in the corrugated packaging. An integrated insert protects the products, increases box strength, and reduces operational costs due to faster packing process. 🏆 The Re3useBox received the Ukrainian Packaging Star, while the Integrated Freezing Box was honoured with the Special Award “Ukrainian Ecostar”. 👏 Congratulations to the people behind these solutions for driving innovation and sustainability in packaging. #Innovation #PackagingStar #CorrugatedSolutions #MondiGroup
