SENATOR ODEY ATTENDS THE COMMISSIONING OF THE UBEC DIGITAL RESOURCE CENTRE (DRC) KADO-KUCHI, ABUJA

Senator Stephen Odey Ph D, Cross River State Commissioner for Education attended the official commissioning of the Digital Resource Centre (DRC) Kado-Kuchi, Abuja. The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) built the DRC to coordinate and standardize teaching and learning in line with global trend.

The Digital Resource Centre (DRC), is the hub for the Universal Basic Education (UBE), Smart Education programme where digital instructional content and other resource materials are developed and deployed to the Smart Schools, Effective Schools and other Schools with the facilities to Link with the Centre. The DRC facility will also serve as a training centre for teachers and education managers, it will further serve the purpose of remote training and streaming of live educational broadcasts.

In attendance were: Professor Tahir Mamman, SAN, Minister of Education; Dr. Yusuf Sununu, Minister for State Education; Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youths and Sports Development; Senators and Honourable Members of the Federal House of Representatives, Commissioners for Education from the 36 States, Executive Secretaries, Chairmen of MDAs, Senator Odey attended as both Commissioner and former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Congratulations Your Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the Executive Governor of Cross River State on your one year anniversary in office, your leadership and vision has made a significant impact on our state. We appreciate your dedication to public service and wish you continued success.

On behalf of myself, management and staff of the State Ministry of Education with all her MDAs, we send you warm congratulations and best wishes for your strong personal commitment to the promotion of the development of our critical sectors as well as ensuring political stability and economic progress in our dear state. This is worthy of celebration.

Thank you for all that you are doing to revive the state economy and restore integrity and sound leadership within Cross River State. We are wishing you every success in these difficult but important endeavours.

Allow me to also salute Your Excellency’s continued pivotal role in efforts to achieve peace and stability in the state. We are all grateful for your commitment to our state progress and prosperity. Your administration’s achievements in one year are a testament to your strong leadership and unwavering commitment to our state’s well-being.

We particularly celebrate and appreciate Your Excellency’s intervention and transformation in the Education sector, especially the payment of WAEC registration for over sixteen thousand (16,301) SS3 students of Cross River State origin; Free tuition for all indigenes in all State owned public primary and secondary schools; renovation of the State Ministry of Education Headquarters, Calabar; Ongoing renovation of the State Library Complex, Calabar; Approval for promotion and it’s implementation for workers; Approval for a new living wage for the least worker in the State to now earn forty thousand naira (#40,000) monthly; and several other milestone achievements.

Your Excellency, the People’s First Governor! May your continued service bring even greater success to our dear state.
