{Wellness} The Life of an Urban Beachside Hippy

When we moved into our new beachside rental just south of Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, QLD our gardens presented us with a raw, blank canvas. Apart from scattered plants around the pool area and lilli pilli hedging for privacy at the front of the property, we inherited 4 garden beds to fertilise, nourish and to grow our own fruit, herbs and vegetables in.

That first weekend the transformation began and within weeks we had reduced our herb bill alone from $25/fortnight to $6/fortnight (only needing to supplement with the purchase of lemongrass and coriander). Continue reading

Diary of a Business Geek: 33 Is Balanced To Me…

Barefoot Basics Rochelle Stone Turning 33

When asked my age on any typical day I can guarantee you that I will never be able to remember, until I count the maths – subtracting the year we are currently in and the year I was born. Some days I feel ridiculously old – on others I feel the real journey is yet to begin.

With less than 2 weeks until I turn 33, its time to state my intentions for the year ahead – making sure that 2013 is lived to its fullest potential… Continue reading

Business Planning – Thinking Ahead For 2013

I am a huge planner – despite being an airy fairy Pisces. I inherited my love of lists or things to achieve from my father and have even taken to designing my own stationery so that my lists look pretty! You see, I learnt quite early on that if you approach a work day, project, business year, house move or even your weekend systematically, then you have all your aces covered.

But life became a bit of a free fall in late 2012, a constant feeling of being unwell and battling eczema to two-thirds of my body and being left permanently exhausted meant I had to let go of the lists and my plans for my business had to sit to the side for a while. It was time to heal. Thankfully, with the New Year here my health is returning and answers provided.

Energy and vitality are required in life and business. It’s time to refocus and establish the foundation for a strong 2013.

Focusing on what you desire can seem daunting but it’s important to set goals and milestones that will encourage accountability and success.

Make the Time to Plan

From taking 30 minutes on a Sunday to outline your schedule for the week to opening and closing your working day, setting out what needs to be achieved and the importance or relevance of each task. The time you invest in understanding your schedule will provide return on investment by creating structure in your day and week, allowing you to actually get stuff done rather than procrastinate over what you think needs to be done. Increased efficiency means more time for family and fun. Who doesn’t what that?
