An Isla update

Lots of fun pics that need documenting!!

Summer friends have been so fun! We've loved hanging out with Sophie and Eden, or as Isla calls her, "Eeeeee"

Apparently, we are raising a serious tom-boy. Isla is already obsessed with motorcycles and riding the, "Broom-broom". She even has hand gestures that go with the sound effect. I'd be slightly annoyed that my girl likes such boy things, but who can resist that smile? (Don't worry, when girl #2 comes around, you better believe we're getting our 'girly-girl' playtime on!)

Bathing suits are Isla's new favorite accessory. She's obsessed with wearing them as necklaces. She'd wear three at a time 24/7 if we let her.

And the accessories don't stop there! She has a purse that she carries around and she loves to wear my shoes. She's gotten so good at wearing my shoes, she can even walk with my high heels on, both at a time all over the house. Like mother, like daughter.

Isla has a new found love of olives! Daddy taught her how to put them on her fingers too, which just makes them so much fun! (funny how both mom and dad hate them... but she doesn't need to know that!)

Apparently she likes corn on the cob too. She ate every last kernel on that cob.

Isla got her first bee sting!! So sad. We were up at my parents and all playing outside when she bolted for the Sorry Board where she knows she's not supposed to go right now because of the bees that hang out around it. Bart got up to go get her, but by the time he was picking her up she had stepped on one and got a sting on her foot! Bart got the stinger out and had me get some mud to put on it. I'd never heard of that remedy, but it totally worked. She was walking around on her foot like nothing happened in around an hour.

Loving her new game of hide and seek under the covers. Too sweet.

Overall, she's learning new tricks and getting soo big.

We love our almost 2 year old!!

Fourth Fun

Of course we spent the fourth in Huntsville this year!! We are enjoying our Utah summer start to finish this year, especially me since it's the first full UT summer I've had not working in years. Last year we were only around for like a month and a half of it and bart was there for less than that. So we've been having a blast taking turns hanging out at our place and my parents' place. The 4th was great, as always. The weekend was relaxing and fun with lots of pool and lake time. Rachel and Todd's friends came to play for the 4th too, which made it an official party. ;)

In the morning there was the 5K/10K (which I didn't participate in this year being 6 months prego and all), the pancake breakfast, and the parade. Isla and I got to drive in the Nash with my dad in the parade throwing candy to the crowd. It was a first for me and it was such a fun way to see everything, from inside the parade itself! Isla had fun 'throwing' candy (dumping it out the window right by the car tires) until she figured out how to open a lollipop and got thoroughly distracted.

Forgive my arm - I swear it was the placement on the edge of the car making it look bigger - I swear!!!

Best part is we were at the beginning of the parade, so once we finished, we walked back to our group and watched the rest of it with the fam.

Notice the 'torteetoh' (or torpedo) that Isla is clinging to - yah, she never let go the entire weekend.

Isla in 4th garb all weekend! I couldn't resist.

4th inspired Oreo Pops. I guess they've become a specialty of mine since I make them every chance I get!!

Getting ready for fireworks at the park. Always a good time.

Love being patriotic. Love being American.

6 months along

Today I am six months along. I can't believe how time passes so quickly. I mean I'm almost in my 3rd trimester already. That is so weird to me. A close friend just had her baby girl and it makes me so happy and anxious for my own to come. I miss the little baby stage. They are so small and precious and completely dependent on you. I know that there's going to be a lot of crying, a lot of sleepless nights, but for some reason I just can't wait.

I'm doing a lot of waiting this summer. At least it feels like I am. Waiting for a baby. Waiting for my sister's wedding. Waiting for Harry Potter to come out. Waiting for my next project. Waiting for the next trip. It's hard to ignore the future and all the fun things I'm waiting for and just have fun in the now. Summer is the best time and I'm loving it, I just wish I could get rid of that nagging feeling inside reminding me of the 'wait'.

Does anyone else have trouble putting off the 'wait'?
