ENTSOG
Oil and Gas
Facilitating cooperation between national gas Transmission System Operators to achieve European Union energy goals
About us
ENTSOG brings together Europe’s gas Transmission System Operators (TSOs) to strengthen cross‑border cooperation and support a secure, efficient and integrated energy system in line with EU energy and climate goals. Originally, ENTSOG’s regulatory tasks were defined under Gas Regulation (EC) No 715/2009 and included developing network codes and guidelines for market and system operation, elaborating the Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP), providing regular information on gas supply and demand for the European market, and delivering common operational tools to ensure network security and reliability. In recent years, ENTSOG’s scope has evolved to reflect Europe’s energy transition and security-of-supply priorities. Under Regulation (EU) 2024/1789, the activities fall within the EU framework for renewable gas, natural gas and hydrogen markets. ENTSOG supports the development and evolution of European network codes and guidelines. It also monitors their implementation and market effects, and provides tools and data that enhance interoperability, transparency and system reliability. ENTSOG also contributes to joint scenario work with ENTSO‑E, including through the TYNDP process. In addition, ENTSOG supports security-of-supply coordination through the ReCo System for Gas and engagement with the Gas Coordination Group. Finally, ENTSOG supports the integration of renewable and low‑carbon gases via monitoring and reporting (including the Gas Quality Monitoring Report), alongside strengthened data exchange and cybersecurity practices.

☀️On 29 May, ENTSO-E and ENTSOG hosted a webinar, sharing the latest results of their recent Seasonal Outlooks, providing a joint view on #electricity and #gas system adequacy for summer 2026. 👩🏫The Seasonal Outlooks serve as an evidence-based input to market participants and authorities, identifying potential risks to system adequacy under different scenarios. Overall: 📌Gas #infrastructure remains capable of supporting summer injections and meeting winter demand, provided sufficient supplies are available. 📌Sufficient #LNG availability and early storage injections are important for achieving storage target level and strengthening winter preparedness. 📌Different #supply and #demand scenarios underline the importance of coordinated maintenance #planning and operational #flexibility across Europe. #Stakeholder could also ask questions directly to the co-authors about both the results and the assumptions (supply, storage, demand) used in the reports. 👉The full presentation is available at: https://lnkd.in/eNp_iQfr

🗣️ At the 41st meeting of the European Electricity Regulatory Forum in Florence, ENTSOG, Piotr Kus gave input on energy system flexibility and the roles of molecules in an integrated energy system. Piotr also added input on governance in the energy sector. 💡The #FlorenceForum, continues to provide an excellent platform for regulators, institutions, and stakeholders to exchange views on the evolution of Europe’s electricity market with an increasing focus on cross-sector coordination. ⚙️ENTSOG highlighted the importance of #systemintegration. The strong interconnection between #gas and #electricity systems enable flexibility across sectors, supports system optimisation, and facilitates the integration of #renewable and #lowcarbon gases in the overall energy system. ⚡🔥Ongoing participation in cross-sector energy forums will further contribute to the development of an integrated European energy system.

Pierre Duvieusart, ENTSOG, took part in the Hydrogen Milestone Ceremony hosted by Gasunie in Rotterdam, marking the completion of the first section of the Dutch hydrogen network. 🤝In presence of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, Minister Stientje van Veldhoven, and industry leaders. The programme featured contributions from Gasunie, Port of Rotterdam, Shell and OGE, highlighting developments in #decarbonisation, #securityofsupply and #crossborder #cooperation. 🔥These developments were also central to discussions during the Flame-conference panel, “How are Europe & the UK ensuring the right networks for the future?”, moderated by Erik Rakhou (Rakhou Associates), with contributions from Lucie Boost (GIE), Angus Paxton (National Energy System Operator) and Maria-Cristina Zaharia (Gas Distributors for Sustainability (GD4S).🔥 🧩The discussion underscored the importance of robust #grid #planning to assess infrastructure adequacy across all time horizons and the need for projects that demonstrate a future-proof network, while ensuring that infrastructure adaptation remains cost-efficient and balanced, supporting both the #energytransition and the continued reliability of supply. #FLAME2026

📢ENTSOG and ENNOH have published a joint report on de-risking options for EU hydrogen infrastructure! Responding to a request from the 11th #EnergyInfrastructure Forum in Copenhagen (CEIF), the report analyses #derisking approaches for #hydrogen #infrastructure investment, addressing key financing challenges faced by project promoters. 🔎The analysis highlights a structural investment gap in the early-stage hydrogen #market, driven by #volume, #price and #cross-border #risks, as well as limited demand visibility, showing that existing tools and national approaches alone are not sufficient. 📌Building on stakeholder engagement, including a joint workshop on 4 March 2026 and a public consultation, the report outlines two EU-level options to support investment, focusing on mechanisms to de-Risk H2 infrastructure projects and to support ramp-up tariffs. 📰Press Release available: https://lnkd.in/ekszMNJG 👉Read the report on our ENTSOG website: https://lnkd.in/eQDXhc-V

🗣️At the 2nd edition of the Budapest Biogas Summit, Piotr Kus, ENTSOG, presented the latest insights on biomethane injection and system integration. 🟢Drawing on ENTSOG analysis, #biomethane is increasingly contributing to #decarbonisation, while building on existing #infrastructure and supporting system #flexibility. 📌Recent data shows that biomethane #injections are rising across most EU Member States, supported by new production capacity and connection to #gasgrids. 📌At the same time, injection levels remain below the 2030 #REPowerEU target, with regional disparities persisting. 📌The integration of biomethane into system planning (e.g. #TYNDP) highlights growing volumes and increasing focus on infrastructure optimisation, such as #repurposing existing assets. These discussions underline the importance of coordinated network planning, transparency of injections, and continued cooperation between #TSOs, #DSOs and competent authorities. 👉Read ENTSOG’s annual report on renewable gas injection in gas grids report here: https://lnkd.in/eqpMRu8b
