What a wacky Wednesday! At 12:00AM it was 71 and there were big gusts of wind warning us of what was to come. (The meteorologists had been talking about it all week, too). Mom was very nervous and we could noted the weather and her emotions.
By 3 AM, the wind was howling. We knew the gusts were expected to reach 60-70 mph. Dash and I cuddled up with Mom, who was trying to sleep.
Then the sirens went off, signaling potential tornados. They screamed their warnings for an hour and a half. We had to huddle in a hallway in the center of our home. I like snuggling but not under a mattress! Finally, we got to go back to bed and we could hear the torrential rain. It only made me want to do one thing and I certainly wasn’t walking outside to go! Now we are watching the news and it is 54 outside and we are expecting snow by this evening! Mom says she has never seen such weather before! All I can say is, “let it snow, let it snow, let it snow”!

Winter Day Care
It’s winter – a Newfie’s favorite time of year! We love, love, love the cold and hope for snow! I want to pull a sled or try skijoring with Mom this year. But lots of parents have a big issue with winter fun and sports: what to do with the children… We saw this cartoon and thought we’d share a ” winter day care solution” – just for grins!

What Would Lucy Do?!?!?
“What would Lucy do?” has been Mom’s question all morning! She has been overwhelmed by the fur of three dogs-big, black dogs and then …. As she put it

She tried getting organized on her own but she found herself doing all kinds of projects that well, were better left undone.
Then she realized that she needed inspiration from the one and only Lucy Ricardo! And what would Lucy do in such a situation? She would get rid of those dust bunnies and fur bunnies before Ricky got home in a wacky manner. And Mom thought, let’s give it a shot- it just may work. Let this dog be the one to tell you be the one to tell you what was inspired by Lucy!

Just kidding-Mom only vacuumed the regular objects. But we did get baths.

“Human” Rules
People “cohabitate” all the time. Mom, Dad, Dash, Nikki and I share ourhome, of course! They love us so much they would not have it any other way. From the very beginning, though, they did have a few rules for us. Certain rooms and pieces of furniture were off limits. We were not allowed people food. And we had to treat guests politely. We weren’t supposed to share Mom’s bed, LOL, but that rule went out the window when she got sick. Most of these dog rules are still in place. So here are some rules I thought humans might live by:

I wonder if Mom and Dad will like them…

Better than Pepto!
It was my day (and Dash’s) to get sick! Our tummies were definitely out of whack. First, Mom had the lovely job of cleaning up our mess. Ugh! Then she tended to us. Humans might solve the problem with this:

Canines have a secret at home remedy that Mom always keeps on hand! It is not just for pies or muffins in our home. It is the canine tummy remedy! A scoop or two is a great home medicine for a sick tummy that you can try before a vet trip. And here it is:

And three hours later, we are good as gold and feeling much better! Hope you remember my tip if you need it.

Crate Surprise
Oh! My! Goodness!!! Having a baby in the house IS a great deal of work! They come in small wiggly, cute packages that ooze icky stuff that must be cleaned no matter if you try to keep them on a schedule or outsmart their tiny body parts…We are wondering around here, “is it a one bath day or a two bath day?”
It is always a “crate surprise” with our little sister, Nikki. In fact, we have two crates for her so that when she is freshly bathed and damp, we can put her in the clean one. When we get up in the morning, we hope for the best but so far it has been the oops days. Nikki loves her playtime and sniff and scratch walks. She can be “good” for short periods of time. But our little sister just seems towant those baths! We are calling them crate surprises!
Mom becoming very efficient with the process but all of us are tired of it. She is right at the age where she could do a bit better and join in more of our activities! We want a different kind of surprise! Hey, Nikki, come join us in the family snuggles and cuddles! We miss you! As soon as you graduate from your “crate surprises”, you can stop playing in the sunroom and join us in the rest of the house. Hope you have a different surprise for us tomorrow!

Baby It’s Cold Outside!
Baby, it’s cold outside! Here in Kentucky it is in the single digits with a wind chill that takes the temperature to zero or below! Even I, in my double layer fur coat, find it a bit nippy. Mom, Dad, Dash and the horses look like this cartoon.

It you haven’t done this, you ought to.

Remember, if humans are cold, so are furry friends! Thank goodness we share the home with Mom and Dad! We like our creature comforts very much and our cosy pillow to cuddle up in!
Since it is so cold we bundled up for our walk! The little boy next door made a snowman but all Mom saw was this in her head! LOL

When we returned home and removed layers of clothing, Mom, Dash and I hopped onto her bed to snuggle. I took over Mom’s lap and Dash covered her feet. It was time to warm up and get some get extra great patting! Dash was asleep in minutes with his head pillowed on his stuffie.

And I enjoyed my extra time across Mom’s lap while it was so cold outside!
Winter might be here, but we are warm inside. Hope you are too!
