Rainy Day Ball Games

Today’s forecast calls for rain. Mom is not excited about it but I am. No matter what, Dash and I get our walks and some ball games. Mom does not like it when we take our ball games outside in the rain…we are determined to play and always complete the game. Do you know what that means? To Mom, it means she must clean, clean, clean! To Dash and and me, it means

TV Tear Jerkers

You gotta screen what your humans watch on TV. Seriously! Some of those reality shows are rude, some shows are silly and the Hallmarkshows are either lovey-dovey or tear-Jerkers! Mom watches movies on the Hallmark channel. I always know when she does because she tears up and must cuddle me. Yes, this cartoon reflects reality!

Game Strategy

We dogs are very intelligent and enjoy our games! Most humans only challenge us with “fetch”. So we must find ways to amuse ourselves that aren’t destructive. Like our human counterparts, sometimes we must play computer games.

20130526-171943.jpg Of course, we have our own versions! LOL
And we like group activities as well! After all, we are “pack” animals!

20130526-172252.jpg Just like a human, your fur friend needs mental and physical stimulation. It keeps a furry buddy happy and healthy!

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Many kids celebrate it as the unofficial beginning of summer. Many pools open, people party and grill and we have a three day weekend. It is a special time for humans, right?

20130526-073229.jpgSome might even roast wieners like that…
Memorial Day is really is very special day, though! Our freedom is not free here in the good ole USA. So we need to remember why we celebrate!

20130526-073557.jpg
We should honor our men and women in uniform-present and past.

Today and everyday, our family is very grateful to the armed forces of our country who defend our rights every day! Happy Memorial Day!!!

Winning the Lottery!

Humans get so excited about the funniest things! Every week, my human dad included, buys little pieces of paper with numbers printed on them.

20130525-185300.jpg Dad’s hopes are high despite the slim to nonexistant chance of him winning the lottery!
I identify closely with him and never discourage him from playing! I am a big, black dog. I was not a cute, tiny fluffy puppy in the shelter. My chances of being rescued and adopted were slim to nonexistant. Then Mom and Dad came along and swept me up! Do you know how I felt? It was better than milk bones. This cartoon really spells it out…

Directions, Please!?!?!?

This week is a big week at our school: annual high stakes testing for all students. Mom is trained to volunteer as proctor and/or provide accommodations, and I will accompany her as her service dog. For us, it is a long hard week of work and little interaction. (We are not doing our usual therapy “work” but rather the work of providing testing support). It is very important that we follow all the rules and guidelines and Mom attended inservice training. Mom has to make sure the student follows directions but cannot correct the student if an error is made. Here is a non test example showing Mom’s nightmare of “following directions”…

20130521-190749.jpg This student really tried to follow directions but needed a clue. Unfortunately, no clues can be given only,”Do your best!”. Thank goodness it was just a nightmare!!!

Age Old Excuse: Updated!

Dogs do go to school- obedience school! Do dogs have homework? Yes! And are dogs the designated lost homework excuse creators? Oh, yes! How many times have we heard, “But the dog ate my homework?!?!”?
Let’s illustrate those points! Dogs have homework and eat it too!

20130521-093524.jpg
And they get tired of eating all the kids homework, plus Mom and Dad’s!

Just Sayin’ – it is not so easy!

Saturday School

We knew something was up when Mom got up early on Saturday and cleaned the house, showered and packed the dog training kit bag. We wanted to know, “Which lucky dog was going on a road trip?!?!?”
Mom did not make an immediate announcement and she and her friend, Kait, were texting to finalize arrangements about their trip to service dog class in Frankfort at Pawsibilities Unleashed. Sadly, when I saw the green harness, I knew Dash was travelling with Mom for training. After many hugs, and greeting Kait and Jenny, her dog, I was home…alone…well, with Dad.
Hours later, Mom and Dash returned. I had tried to keep busy. Mom knits and scrapbooks. I thought I would surprise her!

Then I thought a little conversation would be good.

20130519-064041.jpg. But Mom and Dad know all about love. In fact, they could have written this:

And that was how my day went, while Mom and Dash went to Saturday school!

Friday: TGIF

At last it is Friday! T.G.I.F. It has been a “ruff” week!! Yesterday we had three substitutes before 8:30! Whew- the kids were glad Mom and I were there to help things stay on track in Ms. S’s class. They like consistency. So do we. Then we went to Ms. A’s class and it seemed like someone unleashed the flying monkeys. But we got through it with teamwork! Did I mention that we had to deal with Dad’s car breaking down as well!?!?! It sure pours when it rains!! But we have made it to Friday and I am updating my Facebook status:

Hope y’all have a great Friday and a super weekend!

Evidence of Global Warming

This morning Mom read a bit of the paper and sipped her coffee. Then she said to me, “Bella, should we believe all this Global warming hype and worry?”. Well, I don’t know if we should worry or not, but laundry lines clearly show the evidence in favor of global warming. What do you think- is global warming a fact or what?
