Time for Bed

Humans often need a calm, quiet routine to help them prepare for sleep. Taking care of chores, brushing teeth and turning off electronic devices are often part of the “winding down” process as they anticipate a good night’s rest in a comfy bed.

In a house with dogs, humans usually remember to walk the dog that “one last time” before bed. But they need to add another step into their routines if they own multiple dogs…

Yep, in our house the Mom and Dad always make sure to jump into bed first. They know Dash and I are soon to follow–LOL!

Library Blues!

Last Thursday while we were volunteering, I took a short break from my therapy dog duties. We went to the library and chose a spot where the shelves were being cleaned. (That way we would get some time to relax since no one would look for a book on empty shelves!)

But then I thought I should be a role model and read. You know what I found out?!? The same thing as this pup!

Guess I need a dog book and not a book with words! Where is my bone?

Busy Day!

Today was a typical busy day volunteering at Noe Middle School as a Therapy Dog. We arrive at 7:00 AM and check in. Mom has some papers to run off and so we visit the copy machine. Of course, we make stops along the way since teachers and some students want to pat me. The stress is already high for some people – or perhaps I am just irresistible! Then we went to Mrs. Arnold’s class for math. I love math. Sometimes I do tricks to help students select the right answer. Today I stuck close to my buddy, J, to help him with paying attention. Then we went to Mrs. Ames’ class. Guess what happened there? The PA system came on and a voice said, “Earthquake, Earthquake”. I did a perfect under. The class was following directions too!

I watched them like a mother hen making sure that they stayed under the table until the PA system came on and a voice said, “The drill is over”.

They did a great job on the drill. Our day was a good one even if it was very busy!

It’s Friday…the 13th!

Here comes the weekend … But first, we must survive Friday the 13th with all its macabre possibilities! So good luck and happy Friday to one and all – see you Monday!

Post Date Chat

After his most recent e-Harmony date, my friend Syd the Sheepdog shared his experience with me. Unlike most individuals, he had been truthful on his profile but his date was not appreciate…

Haha, humans prefer the fairy tails, don’t you think?

A Dog’s Science Book

My new favorite class is middle school science in which we are volunteering. We help the students stay on task, decide the reading and deal with challenging concepts including the oft debated evolution. If only man would pay attention to our textbooks, there would be less debate over evolution…

It is so simple. Man evolved to care for dogs – as we (dogs) all agree!

BBQ no-no

This Saturday Mom and I were volunteering at a fabulous event for First Responders, Soldiers and their families called Hero Reward in Corydon, IN. This was the 2nd Annual event and they were cutting the ribbon on a new retreat center next to the cabin for families. All kinds of fun activities were available – education from the fire department and their truck, face painting, fishing, football, volleyball, therapy dogs (us!!!), crafts and a large BBQ meal!

It smelled sooo good cooking. My nose kept quivering with excitement and by 4:00 PM, I was drooling with anticipation. A prayer was said, a long line formed and finally Mom and I joined the end of it. Mom had a chat with me about buffets, tables and manners. I was told to “leave it” – all the lovely food and smells and the BBQ! But if Mom says to “leave it”, I will.

We got to the first table and Mom was busy picking up a plate and napkin. I saw IT. A wonderful bonus on the Ground. On the Ground means I may have it, right? I look at Mom and she does not say “leave it” – but she is busy to be honest…

A chicken leg and a thigh! Both fit inside my mouth perfectly!! And then wouldn’t you know…Mom’s radar was working. She turned and exclaimed, “Bella, uh uh!”. She extricated that chicken from my mouth faster than you could say “yummy’! The crowd alternated between roars of laughter and gasps of fear. Mom calmly dropped the offending chicken leg and thigh into a nearby trash can, sanitized her hands, informed me that the ground was “leave it” as well and returned to the buffet line.
Will I ever get some BBQ? Somebody help me!!!

Dear Weekend!

It’s Monday – already!?!? No, it can’t be!! Dear Weekend, where are you? We have been having a wonderful time together! You do not have to go!

Please come back and be a three day weekend! Everyone would love Monday then! Don’t you agree?

The Bad Day!

It is not often that I wake up on the wrong side of the bed to have a “bad” day, but when I do it is of epic proportions! Most people would agree that some days start wrong and continue to get worse. Mine did.

The moral of the story: never nap in a hammock when you get up on the wrong side of the bed! Lol

Take Notes!

As you know, Mom and I volunteer in a middle school. This year, we are collaborating in a math classroom. I was daydreaming as the teacher lectured and one student stoked my head. The students were tucked carefully in their desks, when the teacher said, “Please take notes!”. This image floated into my mind! LOL

What do you think the teacher would have done?!?
I am still imaging our teacher’s reaction and wriggling in glee!
