Naughty or Nice, Oh My!

The Naughty or Nice List is coming out soon! Oh, my! Santa is up to his ears collecting information and we are a little worried. Which list will we be on?

20131207-121300.jpg I have not tampered with the computer.

20131207-121420.jpg
Nor eaten large and expensive objects.

20131207-121529.jpg
I have not given children bad dreams by playing with their toys in my own way.

20131207-121647.jpgAnd I did not do this…

20131207-121732.jpg
I do not think I should be on the Naughty List!!
Dear Santa, please consider that I have worked over three hundred and fifty hours volunteering in the classroom with my kids this year as a therapy dog. And I still help Mom as a service dog. I even won an award for all my work this year. Santa, won’t you puhleeze put me on the Nice List? I have been a good girl this year!

We Will Miss Him!

Mom is sad today. One of her heroes passed away. In fact, he was a hero world wide – Nelson Mandela – who fought to end apartheid and was South Africa’s first Black President has gone to heaven. He will be missed. Mom admired the man, his mission and his ability to put thoughts into words.
One of Nelson Mandela’s quotes Mom says is a favorite about me. “A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination”. Mom says that I have a very good head and heart. It makes me the special types of dog I am. Not every dog can be a therapy dog and volunteer six hours a day with middle school kids doing animal assisted therapy. Nor can just any dog become part of School Response Team. Not any dog can become a service dog. And very few are dual certified. I think that I can do these things because I have a good head and heart, the kind Mr. Mandela mentioned, and that makes me special.
I am cuddling with Mom to cheer her up a bit. Nelson Mandela was a great man and we will miss him here on earth. We are grateful for his legacy and hopefully many people will try to follow in his footsteps!

Ace’d It

The mail came yesterday and there was a big manilla envelope addressed to Mom and to me! How exciting!! We had no idea what it could be about but the return address was the American Kennel Club (AKC). We opened it with great ceremony sitting at the kitchen table, sipping iced tea with Dad. Mom even used a letter opener.
Inside was a beautiful piece of paper.

20130616-075409.jpg Our principal at Noe Middle School, had nominated us for a very important therapy dog award. We are in the top 200 dogs in the US. Isn’t that awesome!!! We find out in August if we are the “top dog” and go to Florida in December. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? Stay tuned…but we are very grateful to have Ace’d it!

X and Y We Do Appreciate Our Teachers!

It’s National Teacher Appreciation Week! Mom and I think teachers are heroes that work for little pay or recognition, and are often in dangerous situations with little support yet they are charged with the care and education of our most valuable resource, our next generation of taxpayers, voters, and nursing home attendants! Every day teachers

20130508-085845.jpg. My two collaborating friends and teachers, Sara and Jackie, keep it fun for students and Mom and me. If it weren’t fun, do you think a kid would choose the floor over a couch just to read to me?

20130508-090153.jpg
And then we get fun messages to start our math lessons that make us giggle!

20130508-090311.jpg Our teachers rock! We appreciate them! Hope you and your students do, too. Be sure to take a moment to tell them so. It will make a teacher’s day to know that s/he is appreciated!
That is just my two cents…

Final Four: Win 4 Ware

Wow! Our Louisville Cardinals are a great example of young men who play with heart, drive, and sportsmanship! They made it to the Final Four in basketball!

20130406-073449.jpg
And we know that they were inspired by Kevin Ware!

20130406-073552.jpg
We are watching the game today and wearing red to support our team! Even I am excited as I watch Mom and Dad cheer these young men on to the championship! Go Cards!

Not A Victim!

As most of you know, I was an adopted dog. Mom “choosed” me above all other dogs. Most shelter dogs are not so lucky. They are victims of circumstances- lost, abandoned, starving for love and affection, and even dying in the shelter. Part of me surviving was my personality and a part was mom searching for me!
Mom is just like me! She refuses to be a victim of circumstances. Recently she dealt with a conniving thief. Though it may appear that the thief has gotten away with her plans and boasts about it, the whole truth has yet to come out. Mom is patient and knows that good comes to those who wait. She and I have a history of winning. And it is the battle, not the war that ultimately counts! We are not victims but victors!

The Louisville Kennel Club Show

We made our annual trip to the Louisville Dog Show! It is one of the largest shows in the country and many of our friends attend. What was really exciting is that we were able not only to see our old friends, connect with Facebook friends in real life, but we made new friends as well! Here are some highlights!

20130316-074950.jpg
Finally a dog bigger than me!

20130316-075114.jpg
Mom and our family friend, Lexie, who is doing hospitality at this moment!

20130316-075232.jpg
We watched Lexie show in this group!

20130316-075335.jpg
And she won this group!
Mom was able to connect with her friend, Ginny, and they were able to have a lovely chat.
Mom shopped for Dash and me.

20130316-075730.jpg
She bought a couple outfits for us and is planning to purchase custom harnesses after speaking to the owner of BrilliantK9.
It was such a wonderful and exciting day! Not to mention all the dog watching we were doing!! They were amazing!

My Fav School!

We visited my favorite place, Noe Middle School last Saturday.

20130220-095617.jpg
The staff cares about students so much that they help them on Saturdays. Some clubs meet then, too. What dedication! Mom was doing some statistics work for the grant award, so Dad and I went with her to school because she needed to pick up some information and a few other things.
Being the diva I am, I made sure that I was beautiful and posed for a few photos in front of the trophy cases while Dad photographed me. I thought you might like to see my partial clip that Mom did. (We still have more to go!!)

20130220-100155.jpg
Just arrived-but thinking of
great new ideas!

20130220-100400.jpg
My ideas may lead to trophies!

20130220-100451.jpg

20130220-100515.jpg
Don’t I look divine?

20130220-101133.jpg
And by the last trophy case! I am a loyal Noe family member!

Football Proud!

You may not know it but my family is all about football! Pawpaw Gil was recruited by Bear Bryant to play at UK and he taught Dad and his three brothers. Everyone played and coached. Some still do at the college and high school level. Our kids are now playing sports and of course, the boys play football. This season my nephew, Nate Nord, #85 of the Louisville Cardinals, had a great time at the Sugarbowl beating the Florida Gators. We are so proud of him for being a great athlete , a good scholar, a true gentleman and a loving son and brother! I think he is really cool because he gives me tons of pats every time I see him!

20130103-131008.jpg So it was a great game to watch and we were really excited to win! Go Cards!
