1st Aid Dog Style

Mom told me that we were going to be learning new things. I love to learn new things as most of you know because when I learn, I get treats. Treats are yummy! Mom said that we were learning 1st aid and crisis response to help people in times of disaster or emergency. That sounded serious and important to me. But I have to admit, I was more interested in the treats. I began to imagine a doggie style 1st aid kit and it looked like this!

It would sure cure my hunger pains!

You Found Me!

Yesterday Mom and I were standing in the hallway when two of our 6th graders said we found “Bella’s Blog.” I looked at Mom and she was turning bright red. Guess who had not been blogging for a long time?

Well, we are about to fix that, dear readers! There is much to tell!

Today’s Agenda

We have had several snow days this year. In fact, we are eight inches above our annual snow total and there are six more weeks of winter to go! Last night we had an ice storm to cover our snow and it looks like this!

It is beautiful but dangerous ! Power lines are down, trees are falling and side roads are still icy! Oh my! Schools and businesses are closed. Even the malls were closed last night!!!
We have salted our steps and walkway and are being very careful. So I have created an agenda for the day ( besides meals, of course)!

20140205-072952.jpg That should make for a perfect day, don’t you think? What’s your agenda for a perfect snow day?

Snow Daze

It began during the Super Bowl. I know because we dragged Mom away from the nifty commercials and we went for our usual night time walk. The big fluffy flakes were coming down fast and furious! The ground was covered before we went outside and our tracks were filled before we turned around and went back inside. Shelton and I were excited by the snow and danced and pranced as the cold white flakes sped past our noses and landed on the ground! But it was the next morning that was the best part! We awoke to seven inches of puffy, fluffy fun! (I am not certain Mom saw it as big fun!). We went out to play several times. Mom joined. We had our fur coats and Mom bundled up in Dad’s carhart, sweats and rain boots! Don’t we look great on Snow Daze!

The Icing on the Cake

Mom says I am am infamous counter surfer. She and Dad watch their food carefully when cooking, eating or putting groceries away. Although I am trained, I am still unreliable in this area. I once stole cookie dough while Mom turned on the oven. Well, this would happen if Mom iced a cake when I were around!

20140130-060930.jpg Instead of icing the cake, I would de-ice the cake! Ummm, yummy! I could almost taste it now! Better run, I can guess what Mom would say…

On Trial: Bazinga!

Mom got dressed and ready to take a car trip without us! She said it was about a trial run. Is Mom on trial? Where is she going? She gave us no clues but just smiled. Dad brought us outside and then Mom opened the trunk of her car. Bazinga! Shelton or Sheldon as we say is here on trial.

20140122-062836.jpg He is visiting from a friend and will hopefully become a therapy dog. When you say Sheldon,

20140122-063010.jpg He is six inches taller than me at the shoulders and outweighs me by about fifty pounds! Dash and I think he is a great surprise and are happy to mentor him about house manners. (He has always lived in a kennel). Besides, he is cute! Look at this face!!

I hope his trial works out!!

101 Reasons to Read

We volunteer at school and our main focus is assisting students who read below two or more grade levels than their peers. But what about us pups? Shouldn’t we have learned some basic skills? Just think of the books available to us!?!?

Oh, the things we could learn if we could read like humans! Just check out the lovely titles! Mom read them to me as she giggled!

Independent Pups

Humans strive to teach their young to be independent and self sufficient. The goal is for the young human to be able to provide for himself. We dogs like our independence too, especially since we are taught not to beg!

And we will go the extra mile for those yummy foods…

Even though we may not want to own up to it! LOL
You would be amazed at what we learn by observing our humans when we are food motivated! It can make us quite independent pups!

Hospitality and a Guest Room

From time to time, most humans have guests that come to visit. Some stay overnight in the “guest room”. Humans always offer the best hospitality to their guests- good good, good company and good accommodations. Of course, when it is cold, they want to insure that their guests are warm. Now wouldn’t this make more sense than an extra blanket?

Goodbye Resolutions!

Most humans start the New Year by making New Year’s Resolution’s. These usually include dieting, increasing exercise and / or giving up smoking. Despite good intentions and starting strong, within a short period of time, the resolutions are broken and humans return to their usual ways.
All they need is man’s best friend to expedite the process!

Now that’s a best friend: one that helps you say “goodbye” to those pesky resolutions you are going to break anyway!
