Naughty Elf on the Shelf

Our Elf on the Shelf is rather naughty! His antics are going to get him into trouble not just with Mom but with Santa! He is supposed to remind us to be good but he is breaking rules at home! Ones we never even thought to break!!!

20131215-063816.jpgFor safety’s sake, always lift with a partner!

20131215-063928.jpgNever copy yourself, Elf!

Snow belongs outside!

20131215-064115.jpgGoldfish are treats! Urgh!

No parachuting in Mom’s kitchen!

20131215-064307.jpgBarrel racing belongs in the rodeo!

Only adults may use fire!
Oh, Elf on the Shelf, you need to follow the rules like Dash and me! Your antics are going to get you on the wrong list! You want to be on Santa’s Nice List, right?!?

Naughty or Nice, Oh My!

The Naughty or Nice List is coming out soon! Oh, my! Santa is up to his ears collecting information and we are a little worried. Which list will we be on?

20131207-121300.jpg I have not tampered with the computer.

20131207-121420.jpg
Nor eaten large and expensive objects.

20131207-121529.jpg
I have not given children bad dreams by playing with their toys in my own way.

20131207-121647.jpgAnd I did not do this…

20131207-121732.jpg
I do not think I should be on the Naughty List!!
Dear Santa, please consider that I have worked over three hundred and fifty hours volunteering in the classroom with my kids this year as a therapy dog. And I still help Mom as a service dog. I even won an award for all my work this year. Santa, won’t you puhleeze put me on the Nice List? I have been a good girl this year!

Elf on the Shelf Life!

We know about our Elf on the Shelf. In fact, we have two that came to stay with us this year! Their names are Calvin and Capote. They move so quickly and hide in such unusual places with treats that we are always looking for them!
But we wonder what they do during they day. Do they talk? Do they run around? Do they play ball?
Mom caught a sneak peek and captured a photo of Calvin playing.

20131207-090845.jpg
We know they keep up with the naughty or nice list because one day I found this lying on the table.

20131207-091033.jpg Dash and I are sure it is written by Calvin or Capote! They are busy little elves.
And last nite Mom caught this cute picture.

20131207-091231.jpg But we must be doing something right, because our Elves on the Shelf left us something special this morning:

20131207-091413.jpg
And that is what we know (so far) about Elf on the Shelf life!

The List

Tis the season to discuss many lists: shopping lists, meal lists, cleaning lists and… The Naughty or Nice List! Santa watches everyone, you know, not just the humans. Mom and Dad warn us about it. But we have proof from the North Pole itself.

20131204-093023.jpg
Oh, dear! I really have tried.

20131204-093124.jpg We know we are on that list! Santa takes it very seriously. And so do we!

20131204-093358.jpg
I am worried about the ravioli incident that left Mom’s room looking like a crime scene.

20131204-093710.jpg
If it were just that one little thing… I would not be so worried about the side of the list I am on but…

20131204-093932.jpg
I had a bit of trouble controlling my urge to eat treats!
So I am worried!!! I want to be on the Nice List!
Mom says that I do so much volunteering and and am usually so very good that I should not worry about the Naughty List. In fact, she told me that there are some wrapped presents for me! I hope that they have some of these

20131204-094359.jpg
and these

20131204-094433.jpg!
Jack Frost, Dash and I have really tried to be good this year. Please keep us on The Nice List!

Elf on the Shelf

What is this “Elf on the Shelf” business? I really do not understand it. Does Santa send an elf to watch over children during December and give them extra treats if they are good? Does he disappear if they break a rule? I want an “Elf on the Shelf”, too! Is there one for dogs?
Look what he did this morning for one of my little friends!

20131202-090650.jpg
But he left this for another set of my friends 😦

20131202-090800.jpg I wonder if the “Elf on the Shelf” reports to Santa for the “Naughty or Nice” list! Oh my! I am in a quandary. Do I want one or not? I think I do! How about you? Would you like an “Elf on the Shelf”?

Woofs and wags,
Bella

O! Santa Where art Thou?

O! Santa, Where art thou? I have been looking all over for you. Mom says you live at the North Pole but I am one confused pup. You see, there is a Santa Claus, IN. There are many, many Hallmark movies with Santa living/visiting many cities here in the U.S. and so many variations on the original story that we read at bedtime that I get confused.
So when we go out, I started looking
for Santa. I was polite and did not woof or bark but my nose and eyes were on high alert.

20121224-135439.jpg
Here I am scanning the scene and sniffing the air to find him. We went into Kroger. I looked up and found a scary thing.

20121224-135932.jpg
That helium filled thing floating on the ceiling was not Santa!
We pushed our bascart up and down several aisles. No one else was searching for Santa, not even Mom. Why weren’t people worried about all these discrepancies and story variations? Where were my friends like Sheldon ( The Big Bang Theory) who care about every minute detail?

20121224-141656.jpg
Next I saw this. I sniffed. And sniffed again. Santa he was not!

20121224-142002.jpg
The next aisle was full of tempting smells and even a tempting edible imitation Santa. Still, the real McCoy was missing.

20121224-142228.jpg
This was clearly not Santa and I put my tail down and shook my head…

20121224-142436.jpg
I know Santa and no one can make a monkey out of me…

20121224-142706.jpg
But when I saw him…

20121224-142809.jpg
I was quite confused. He was quite like Santa and yet not Santa and not at the North pole. I looked at him and swiveled my head to Mom with a
question plainly plastered on my face. Mom patted my head. “Bella, this is not Santa. It is one of his helpers. Santa is at the North pole”. Now my question, “O! Santa, Where art thou? ” is answered. All my concerns about this Christmas commercialism and multiple Santas are allayed. I am peaceful again. Humans make life complicated sometimes!

Dog Rules for Christmas

Even a trained service dog like me must learn the “Dog Rules for Christmas”. I saw a great list of them and am sharing them with some images so my doggie friends will be on the Santa’s nice list.

20121211-173158.jpg
These are gift bags. You may sniff but do not play with them.

20121211-173407.jpg
Oh, the agony of the embarrassing antlers-gotta love cos your human does!

20121211-180408.jpg
Remember the important rule…

20121211-180513.jpg
Always mind your tail around the tree or this could occur!

20121211-180808.jpg

20121211-181351.jpg
This is a buffet. It is not a just an extra long counter for you to surf! No siree!

20121211-181538.jpg

20121211-181636.jpg
Always remember this is NOT true especially when visiting!

20121211-181747.jpg

Be your most adorable self!

Ready to Celebrate?

Mom and Dad grew up in two different cultures. He grew up in Louisville, KY and she grew up in Europe. Their holiday customs are somewhat different. But both of them love to celebrate each and every holiday!
So here is a quick view of some of our holiday decorations!

Yes, we love to celebrate Christmas here! But we do remember the reason for the season : )

All I Want For Christmas

Every year I used to wish that I could sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what I wanted! Someone actually drew a cartoon about it (but they did not feature me)

20121209-062921.jpg
All I wanted the first three years of my life was a warm and cuddly home of my own to celebrate every day and holiday in! And Santa granted that wish!
Now I think that that if you truly believe good things happen.

20121209-063349.jpg
But if you are naughty and make the list, or stop believing in him, expect “the worst”.

20121209-063702.jpg
Underwear and socks- now that would be terrible! I am going to be so good! Besides, I believe in Santa! He already found my home! Can’t wait to see my stocking this year! This Newfie has been a good girl!!!

Santa’s Watching You

Today we are putting up more decorations as Christmas draws closer. We have always been taught to respect our humans “toys” and property but today we received the ultimate reminder: Santa is watching you!
Mom read to us about these dogs and told us that we would definitely be on the naughty list if we acted like they did.
Want to see? Here is what they did…

20121207-111649.jpg
Of course, Dash and I think it is because their parents forgot to teach them manners! We are heeding the warning and staying on the “Nice” list!

Bella
