Dog Days of Summer: a PSA!

The Dog Days of Summer have arrived! You know, the very hot ones where the sun pounds the pavement and bounces back up and people pant like their canine counterparts. And during this time special care must be taken of your dogs!
First, remember to NEVER leave your dog in the car! A car heats up too quickly even with the windows cracked. Consider this:

“Biggest Catch”

It was hidden in a corner. No one knew it was there. No one one knew its intended purpose. I certainly didn’t! My nose picked up on another strange smell but in school that is not unusual. The scent did not signal danger so I did not worry. But there it lay in wait for its prey, silent, and hidden. Suddenly, an unnamed student broke the silence!
“A mouse! It’s a mouse!”
Aunt Krista calmly explained due to students bringing food into the classroom they also encouraged the mice to enter their class. She included the important facts that the custodial staff were working to alleviate the problem and that the students could help by not eating in class. I listened with one ear. The barn cats catch mice all the time and no mice ever enter our house! Dash and I have made that clear. After the initial excitement, all seemed to be fine and dandy. I surveyed my “kingdom” from my fav spot as Queen Bella.

I regally rose to check on a student when I realized … I was “the biggest catch”.

Yep, as I arose so did the sticky icky glue thingy intended to humanely catch a mouse. It was firmly stuck to my lovely flowing tail. Poor mom, she had to pry it off without making me whimper. It caught a big one today–but the mouse got away!
The moral of this tale: pay close attention to where you set your tail or it might get you stuck!

Woofs and wags,
