Special Visit

Yesterday was a very exciting day! First we went to Noe Middle School to volunteer. The students were so happy to see us after a long break and several snow days! They really needed us too since they were stressed by a science test over Newton’s first three laws. After our classes, we hurried to the car and drove across town. I had not been to this place before. But Mom knew the way. She told me that we were going to visit her daughter and the first Grandchild. I felt honored because I had not been allowed near the first Grandchild when he came to our house. I was fascinated by him. Most babies like me and this one was extra special to Mom so I wanted to get to know him.
We parked and knocked on the door. Adri, Mom’s daughter answered, holding the First Grandchild. He looked ready to go to Texas in his A&M outfit!

He was sucking on a lemon to help his cold. When he saw me, he clapped his hands and reached for me. Mom told Adri, ” He likes dogs and wants to pat Bella”. Adri said, “What will Bella do?”. I wanted to giggle. Mom explained to Adri that I would let the First Grandchild pat me and would be very calm no matter what he did. Finally the First Grandchild got to pat me! We were both so happy!! He clapped his hands again and again and smiled his big smile! Stephen, his dad, smiled when he saw the First Grandchild patting me. It was a Very Special Visit!!

Better than Pepto!

It was my day (and Dash’s) to get sick! Our tummies were definitely out of whack. First, Mom had the lovely job of cleaning up our mess. Ugh! Then she tended to us. Humans might solve the problem with this:

Canines have a secret at home remedy that Mom always keeps on hand! It is not just for pies or muffins in our home. It is the canine tummy remedy! A scoop or two is a great home medicine for a sick tummy that you can try before a vet trip. And here it is:

And three hours later, we are good as gold and feeling much better! Hope you remember my tip if you need it.

Oh! Monday…

Oh, Monday- you have arrived. Mom is sleeping and it is 6:40 AM. Now this is not usual. She has fed us and walked us. We have cuddled back up to her because she told us the plan for the day and none of us liked it. In fact, I put on my biggest pout and flounced out of the room when I realized that we were not going to be collaborating today, we were not going to see our kids and we were not going to school. I hate it when Mom is sick on Mondays. Here is what I feel like:

Working Like Dogs

“I worked like a dog”. That is an idiom.
I have heard it and I wondered if people who say it think before they say it. Why are they saying it? What do they mean? Have they seen a dog “work”? Does work make a dog physically tired?
Do they say it because dogs pant when they are hot or stressed and their tongues hang out?

Is it because they think of sled pulling dogs?

Or police dogs?

My brother, Dash and I “work like dogs”. We work like service dogs!
Do you wonder what that looks like?
Here are some pictures of what we do when we are working. ( Only one of us works with mom at a time!)

Dash went to the optometrist with mom. She has extra tests to do with her eyes and he must stay ” under” a very long time!

He went out to lunch with them one day…I was at home with my boo boo.

Dash even showed off a great down/stay at “my” hangout: the Awesome Fleamarket!
These are a snapshot of excellent manners in public!
One of our most important jobs is to hang out with mom and walk everywhere with her. This is what it looks like when we walk near our home.

There you have it! Some of the things my brother and I do when we “work like dogs”. Read on to find out more about our work in future posts!
