As most of you know, I was an adopted dog. Mom “choosed” me above all other dogs. Most shelter dogs are not so lucky. They are victims of circumstances- lost, abandoned, starving for love and affection, and even dying in the shelter. Part of me surviving was my personality and a part was mom searching for me!
Mom is just like me! She refuses to be a victim of circumstances. Recently she dealt with a conniving thief. Though it may appear that the thief has gotten away with her plans and boasts about it, the whole truth has yet to come out. Mom is patient and knows that good comes to those who wait. She and I have a history of winning. And it is the battle, not the war that ultimately counts! We are not victims but victors!

My One & Only Christmas Wish
Mom and Dad are both teachers. Since Mom retired, she and I volunteer several days a week at a middle school doing Animal Assisted Therapy. She has dealt with many types of trauma and even has a degree in counseling but nothing prepares anyone to react to the tragic events that unfolded at the elementary school in Newtown, CT. Tears ran down her face and she held me tight. I knew that she wished we could be there to provide support to those who might need it.
My wish is about that event and how we remember it. Let’s forget the name of the shooter and never speak it!
And more importantly, let us pick a victim to remember. Say the name each day. Say a prayer or devote a moment of silence for 26 days! That is my wish for Christmas! Thanks for reading my blog!
