Ben’s Ghost
BEN’S GHOST
The spirit
that graces me
with its passing
has no name.
And stems not
from thoughts and words
though it gathers them up as it flows
but from feeling.
Mary Oliver: In Memoriam
MARY OLIVER: IN MEMORIAM
Flesh and bone may decay
Her words, all the thoughts
All the feelings they evoke
Shall remain to nourish us
Leave Your Thoughts
LEAVE YOUR THOUGHTS
I left my thoughts
My thoughts left me
My thoughts departed
While I. left remained
Alone in an aloneness
Awaiting fresh thoughts
Heresy (28a)
HERESY
Explosive
This marriage of words
Half-closed doors
Fly open
Naked, virgin thoughts scamper
Hither and thither

Lost In Thought
LOST IN THOUGHT
sense
weaves in and out of mystery
you make stuff up
pain
………purpose
………………emotion
an interesting cast
on stage
it was
foolish
………mindless
………………a merging of dualities
half listening
thinking about something else
wisdom was suggesting
not do that
………pay attention
……………………….yes it’s awareness

Envy
ENVY
This afternoon
I came across these fine words
Of Gary Shneider’s
“Your thoughts do not care about you
They only want to perpetuate themselves”
Envy arose as I read them
But I did not allow it
To perpetuate itself
Thought
THOUGHT
Where do they come from?
And where do they go?
And what is their purpose?
And shall we ever know?
Similarity
SIMILARITY
Without warning
A band of wild horses
Galloped into view
They thundered past
Disturbing the stillness
And in a moment … gone again
I do not know
Where they came from
Why they came this way
And at such a pace
Nor where they may be now
Thoughts … a similar mystery
