Poet As In A Mirror: Tanka
POET AS IN A MIRROR
Inspire me please
Saying the unexpected
Revealing your deeps
Encouraged by your courage
To write something worth reading
Mary Oliver: In Memoriam
MARY OLIVER: IN MEMORIAM
Flesh and bone may decay
Her words, all the thoughts
All the feelings they evoke
Shall remain to nourish us
Verdict
VERDICT
Fully acknowledged
This terminality of ours
It’s about our value
It’s about what we’re worth
And uncovering who devised
The scale that measured it so
It’s about fighting or giving up
It’s about fighting for life
It’s like being like water
It’s about laughing daily
In the face of death
It’s about life
And dancing
Life and dancing
Until the end
And beyond
These Furrowed Brows
THESE FURROWED BROWS
You can spot thinkers
But what preoccupies them
Is it of value?

Worth

WORTH
An evaluation
Based on finance
Rather than on ethics
Is of such little value
To those whose home base
Transcends the mere material
