The time has come when leaves change color and float aimlessly in the air until they reach the ground, sweaters are dug out of closets, boots are polished, and everything becomes pumpkin. Excuse me while I gag over here but seriously what is everyone’s obsession with pumpkin everything. Don’t get me wrong I love pumpkin pie, who doesn’t, but can we end the pumpkin spice latte and pumpkin candles and pumpkin beer crap?! I am going to start a new obsession like fig. HOW ABOUT EVERYTHING BECOMES FIG!!
Anyways, fall also means it is time to make room on your bookshelves or desk or floor, maybe even your roommates/brothers/sisters desk because there are an insane amount of new releases.
Alright, so here is a list of new fall releases I am looking forward to reading. Some have already come out while others seem like the wait will be forever. I pretty much decided that fall was going to include anything from September through November.

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.
But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.
Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.
Why I want to read it: I read an excerpt from this book and I really liked the voice of the main character. It will definitely be a fun, quick contemporary read,

It’s been three months since the Winterians were freed and Spring’s king, Angra, disappeared—thanks largely to the help of Cordell.
Meira just wants her people to be safe. When Cordellan debt forces the Winterians to dig their mines for payment, they unearth something powerful and possibly dangerous: Primoria’s lost chasm of magic. Theron sees this find as an opportunity—with this much magic, the world can finally stand against threats like Angra. But Meira fears the danger the chasm poses—the last time the world had access to so much magic, it spawned the Decay. So when the king of Cordell orders the two on a mission across the kingdoms of Primoria to discover the chasm’s secrets, Meira plans to use the trip to garner support to keep the chasm shut and Winter safe—even if it means clashing with Theron. But can she do so without endangering the people she loves?
Mather just wants to be free. The horrors inflicted on the Winterians hang fresh and raw in Januari—leaving Winter vulnerable to Cordell’s growing oppression. When Meira leaves to search for allies, he decides to take Winter’s security into his own hands. Can he rebuild his broken kingdom and protect them from new threats?
As the web of power and deception weaves tighter, Theron fights for magic, Mather fights for freedom—and Meira starts to wonder if she should be fighting not just for Winter, but for the world.

Set in gilded age New York, These Shallow Graves follows the story of Josephine Montfort, an American aristocrat. Jo lives a life of old-money ease. Not much is expected of her other than to look good and marry well. But when her father dies due to an accidental gunshot, the gilding on Jo’s world starts to tarnish. With the help of a handsome and brash reporter, and a young medical student who moonlights in the city morgue, Jo uncovers the truth behind her father’s death and learns that if you’re going to bury the past, you’d better bury it deep.
Why I want to read it: This plot is so enticing. It reminds me a lot of Cat Winters style plots and settings. The excerpt I read from this book back in June made me angry when I realized how long I would have to wait to read it.

Why I want to read it: I am reading the first book in the series now and I talk more about it below!
I am most excited for Six of Crows, Ice Like Fire, These Shallow Graves, and Ten Thousand Skies Above You.
There are a few other books that I am on the fence on and perhaps if I happen to stumble upon a copy I will read them, if not then oh well. The first is What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler. It is based off a true story of a teenage girl being raped at a party. If it gets enough good reviews I will read it. I just worry about the way the story may lead with the POV it is under.
The other book I am on the fence about is Dumplin‘ by Julie Murphy. I loved Side Effects May Vary and I think Murphy is a fantastic writer and storyteller. However, the plot of this book is just really not something that I usually read. But if the voice of the main character has that wit and humor that Murphy is great at writing then I will give it a shot.
I know there is only 10 days left in the month but I am determined to get through four books before September ends. The first being Everything, Everything. I went to Target today to get hummus and me being me decided to peruse the book section. Bad idea. I bought two books. Which isn’t that bad but I’ve spent so much on books in the last month my wallet hates me. That being said I pretty much read the entire book in a day. I just have about 50 pages left.
I am also kind of in the middle of two other books as well. Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman and Air Awakens by Elise Kova. I am loving Air Awakens right now. I am about a quarter through it and it is mesmerizing. Thanks to my sister for recommending it! Oh and the cover is beautiful. Everyone should read this book!!
The last book in my September TBR is an ARC I received over on Net Galley. Sing Down the Stars by L.J. Hatton is about a girl with magical abilities that she must use to save the world after years of hiding them. It is a mix of sci-fi and fantasy and I am excited to read it. It comes out October 6.
That pretty much wraps this up. I will be posting some reviews this week. And soon enough I will have my October TBR posted!
