She's Here!!

I know it's not nice to tease so no, the baby isn't here but the next best thing came today. Say hello to Curvy-

We're all set to party later tonight. I can't wait to take her for a spin. She'll be christened with Cheeto dust in no time. As far as affordable machines go I'm a big Singer fan, my old machine is a Singer and I just loved it. My new one's a little heavier and bulkier than my old one, but hey- I'm a little heavier and bulkier than I was 7 years ago so I won't hold that against her. I'm sure Curvy and I will get along just fine! I'm still keeping my old one, it'll probably become my ruffler foot machine since ruffler feet are a pain in the caboose to move all time.

Look at how sleek she is compared to my old epoxied one, not as many buttons for Kaci to try and destroy so that's a huge plus!

I am SOOO slow!

I get all these grand ideas about how I'm going to do everything on my to-do list in one day so I can sew for the rest of the week but I'll tell you what- being 9 months pregnant isn't as easy as I try to make it out to be. I spent all day Monday cleaning my room and rearranging things to get a better idea of where the bassinet will go and pulled out all the tiny baby clothes from the attic (3 huge Rubbermaid totes!) and just doing that took me over 5 hours and I pulled my back out. I get so frustrated that my body won't let me do the things I want to do and when I want to do them!! So yesterday was spent hopped up on small doses of Tylenol while I stayed on the couch folding laundry, then soccer and bed.

So my bootie sewing explosion has turned into a small sewing session with nothing completed. I want to kick it up a notch today but knowing my luck I'll sprain my index finger doing the dishes or something and it will take me 2 hours to load them. I still have over 5 big things on my to-do list to get ready for baby. So much for getting it done in one day.

Mary's birthday is Sunday but thankfully we have a family reunion this weekend so we're going to celebrate her birthday sometime next week. We're hoping to have horse rides and everything but it also gives me extra time to come up with a few more gifts I want to make. I love this sock horse from La Belle and really hope I can get it done. I feel like the turtles from the movie Hoodwinked that get scared and try to run so they stick their necks out as far as they can but they are still just crawling.

Hopefully I'll have a ton of fun stuff to share soon. Wish me Speedy Gonzales luck!

Updates all around

I'm so glad the wordless week is over! I thought it would be a nice break but I still ended up cheating a little because who wants to stay wordless? I have so many words to say now that it would take a week just to catch up so I'll spare everyone and just give an update post today.

Booties- Thank you so much for all your compliments and congratulations on my booties and the contest! I LOVE Craftzine and I LOVE Michael Miller fabrics (I hoard a ton of it!) so I'm just completely over the moon! I won some pretty fantastic prizes and I'll be stalking my front door for the next few weeks. Who would have guessed that my middle of the night idea for booties for Kennedy would turn into this- awesome!

As far as what I'm going to do with the booties, I plan on opening an etsy store within the next week and cranking out as many of these babies as I can in as many different fabrics as I can and listing them a.s.a.p. Unfortunately I most likely won't be doing a pattern for this particular style because I really have no idea how I would tell you (or show you) how to make them. I just wing it and manipulate them as I go along, and pray that both booties match so I have a pair. Each pair will be a one of kind sort of thing. I've sketched out at least 15 other designs and I will probably offer a free tutorial on one of those in the near future, a pattern I can explain better probably. I love to share, especially when I can give it to you for free. If you have any questions please email me at dontlickthefloor(at)hotmail(dot)com.

Mini Me- Yesterday marked my 36th week! That's a huge milestone for me just because I know it's almost over. I'm just not the type who loves being pregnant. I just adore babies and need a million of them but I tell you, if I could go pick them up at the store instead I would.

Look at how big I am! My arms look like what the hulk's arms will look like when he turns 90 and has a farmer tan. Stop looking at my arms, I know it's hard to look away- like a wreck or something. **Edited to add** Objects in mirror are less flattering than they appear. I know my lower arm looks like it's in risque` position, but I swear I'm only holding up the bottom of my belly. Hope that makes some of you feel better ;o).

Our Family- We are doing great and we are super busy this summer with Jeremy and Ashlyn in soccer, Mary's birthday next weekend, the baby coming in the next few weeks, doctors and dentist appointments, and churchy things. Cody is going to be working out of town all of next week and possibly two weeks so I'll be a single-mom and probably committed to some sort of facility before too long. With Cody gone and not making me go to bed before 11 that will give me tons of time at night to sew and get ready for baby. I still haven't washed a single baby item or found my baby clothes yet. I should probably do that.

I think that about covers it for now. Have a great weekend!!

Brief wordless break...

Just had to pop in and interrupt my wordless week because I don't think I can hold it in until Friday. I won the Micheal Miller Baby Bootie Contest!!!!!!! There were so many extremely cute booties on there, I feel very lucky they chose me. I can stop checking my email 10 times a day and no one in my family can say I never call them anymore, I called them all today ;o).

Here's the link to the Craftzine post and the runners up (also super super adorable so go check them out)-

Wordless Week

Well today won't be totally wordless but I'm planning on posting a picture of something I've been up to each day for a week. I've been totally over whelmed lately and I feel I should spare you the whiny details so this is the plan. So without further ado and blabbing I give you day 1-

Wheat Grass Homicide

Cody and I are trying to be a little better about keeping at least a 3 month supply of food and toiletries around at all times in case of emergencies (and lazy moms who don't want to shop regularly) and in our storage we have wheat. I don't have a wheat grinder or any real way to use the wheat right now so if the end of the world came tomorrow I guess we'd be chewing hard wheat berries to stay alive or just eat the millions of boxes of cold cereal and gravy mix I bought in bulk. MMMmmm- dry cereal and dry gravy mix.

Anyway, I got the bright idea that I wanted to plant a cute little rusty wagon full of wheat grass as a decoration, hey if I can't eat it I'll plant a hand full of it. The only problem is that I don't have a cute little rusty wagon. So plan B was to plant the wheat in a few of the 5 bazillion pots I have and put them on the ledge in my dining area. I painted an old frame we had lying around and used a few cast iron stars to hang off of it and put my wheat grass pots behind the frame once they were grassy. In my head it was such a cute idea.

It looked great for 3 days which was good because those where the pants-less days and I think my fantastic wheat helped to distract or divert attention away from me and my neon legs. I put my pants back on and this is what happened-

Apparently my neon legs served as some type of grow lamps or something. My wheat is dying. I tried keeping them in the kitchen windows for the past week but they're only getting worse. I have company coming on Monday and wanted the empress them with my fantastic idea but it looks horrible and it takes a week to grow new stuff. Help! Anyone know how to give wheat grass a little CPR? Cody says I can't go pants-less anymore and really it's not hot enough in here for my "natural" grow lights ;o).

Rundown- cake, police, cake.

Things have been super busy and super crazy here. Here's my week and the things that made me smile (or not).

Wednesday & Thursday

Add to all this sewing fun frightening Cody's elderly relative. I've decided when it's getting warm in here and I'm not ready to turn on the a/c yet, walking around in a long t-shirt without pants feels really good. This is where the scaring off visitors comes in...

Friday

I didn't get any good pictures this year with it being rainy out. We had a really low key 4th with roasted hot dogs and marshmallows at Cody's parents house and then back to our place for our own fireworks show. I made cupcake bites at the very last minute and they turned out so cute and actually tasted pretty good. I got the recipe and idea from Bakerella. I cheated and used caramel chocolate cups and mini reese's peanut butter cups for the bottoms and my pampered chef small scoop for the cake top to save time. They were a big hit with the kids.

Saturday

The kids and I took a long day trip to my grandma's house for her birthday party where I successfully made her cry (not a good thing) and got pulled over for the first time in 8 years for a headlight that was out only to find out that our registration was expired. DANG IT! Not my finest day my friends... at least I had pants on.

Sunday

How do you tame a hormonal beast (I have been on a rampage lately)? Feed her more chocolate cake. We spent the day at Cody's parents house celebrating another birthday with more chocolate cake and visiting with Cody's brother and his new (?) girlfriend who were visiting for the weekend.

And there you have it folks, my weekend full of cake, cops, and pants-lessness.

Somewhere in all that mess I forgot to send out my giveaway packages so girls they are on there way hopefully sometime today or tomorrow- after I get my car renewed and the light fixed (again- DANG IT ALL!).
