Granite Lookout (a short hike)

CWWC: Any Which Way Along a Nature Trail

In Australia we mainly say track rather than trail. Therefore, come for a short walk on the track to Granite Lookout in the Gibraltar Ranges.
Another wonderful spot up the mountain from my place. This time we’ll go to a lookout that looks the opposite way to Raspberry Lookout, a favourite here.

It’s a short 500metre walk which is undulating. There’s lots to see on the way.

Sometimes a butterfly like this Caper White will come flitting past

I like finding little blue stars along the track. This is a wahlenbergia graniticola I find it easier to say blue star

Not far not, just up the track a bit further

Masses of White Paper daisies look a treat

Almost there just about another 30metres or so

Now you take either take a seat and have a breather, taking in the view…..

…….across the Washpool wilderness….

….and ancient Gondwana Rainforest.

Or you could search the bush in case the Waratahs have flowered

Hope you enjoyed the walk up to Granite Lookout

Granite Rocks Lookout (walk and discoveries)

Terri’s Sunday Stills: Paths and #Trails of the Great Outdoors

The start is quite an uphill walk. Once near the top of the track, a gentle curve send you down again, but don’t be fooled.

You’ll encounter Tall White Everlasting Daisies

Either side of the track flowers abound

Yes the track had you tricked and it’s another climb to the lookout

If you need a quick rest there are Caper White Butterflies to keep you amused

If you are there when the Waratahs are flowering, you are in for a treat

The National Parks have thoughtfully put a bench up there for the weary.
For those who wish to walk on, to the right behind the bench, a track heads down into the valley and around back to the car park.

So have a rest and take in the sights of the Gibraltar National Park

To the creek (tell me the way)

CWWC: March 28, 2024

Excuse me, can you let me know which way for a lovely bushwalk?
Not a problem, once you come to the old fence, walk down the road.
All the way?

No. There’s a bend in the road. Don’t turn left, go straight ahead.
What is straight ahead? Is there any signs to know which way?

There aren’t any signs but you’ll see the gravel track that goes through the bush. Follow it until you come to a little bridge and a creek.
OK I’m glad the track is easy to find. I hope it’s not far, it is quite warm today.

Once at the creek, upstream is quite pretty
You are so right, it is so lovely.

You can go swimming downstream, there is a small path into the water over the cobbles onto the gravel bed and easy access to the pools, deep enough to sit in.
That is so inviting on a hot day. Cool water running over the gravel…..bliss
Thanks for showing me which way to this delightful creek
.

The Weekly Prompts Weekend Challenge: The Bend

Which bend are you going to take?

May as well have a singalong as we go. Everyone should know this one

“You reach out your hand, but you’re all alone in these
Time passages
I know you’re in there, you’re just out of sight
Oh, time passages
Buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight”

The December theme is TIME. I am sure everyone has found at least one #timesquare, but just in case you are struggling here are some #timesquare ideas;

Timepieces – clocks, watches, sun dials and egg timers
Sayings – Time & tide wait for no man (or woman!), A stitch in time saves nine, Early bird catches the worm, In the nick of time or More haste, less speed
Synonyms – era, moment, season, infinity, interval, lifetime and age
Out of the box – nighttime, downtime, pastime and mealtimes!
