A positive step for investment in Saskatchewan. Today’s announcement of the new Productivity Mega Deduction by Prime Minister Carney has significant potential for our province, particularly for capital-intensive sectors like mining, energy, infrastructure, and other export-oriented industries. It could also help address a key barrier to growth. The inclusion of infrastructure means more incentive to invest in the rail, transportation and trade infrastructure that gets our products to market. There is more work to do, but this is a meaningful step toward making Canada a more competitive place to invest, build, innovate and expand. Saskatchewan is attracting the kind of investment that can shape our economy for years to come. The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, Regina & District Chamber of Commerce, and Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce welcome Bell Canada's significant expansion of the Sherwood Data Centre campus and the establishment of Bell AI Fabric's head office in Regina. Saskatchewan Chamber CEO, Prabha Ramaswamy was pleased to be present for the announcement in Toronto following the #CanadaInvestmentSummit. With up to $3 billion in provincial PST revenue, 1,200 construction jobs sustained over several years, significant local labour and supply spending, and up to 100 permanent management positions in Regina, this project represents a major investment in Saskatchewan’s economy. It also demonstrates effective partnership between government and business. Federal, provincial, and territorial ministers have agreed to new measures aimed at reducing internal trade barriers across Canada, including a 30-day service standard for labour mobility applications, model mutual-recognition legislation, and timelines to expand mutual recognition to services. The Saskatchewan Chamber welcomes this progress, which closely aligns with Chambers of the Federation: An Agenda for a More Competitive Canada, released in July 2026 and presented to Canada’s premiers by provincial and territorial chambers of commerce. The focus now is on implementation and turning these commitments into meaningful results for businesses and workers across Canada. A few days in Prince Albert, plenty of great conversations, and a lot of Chamber connection. 🙌 Last week, members of the Saskatchewan Chamber team joined Chamber colleagues from across the province for the annual Chamber of Commerce Executives of Saskatchewan (CCES) Summit, hosted this year in Prince Albert. Between professional development sessions and catching up with colleagues, we had the chance to get out and experience more of Prince Albert, including visits to local businesses, community projects and the city’s downtown. One of the best parts of CCES is the opportunity to connect with the people doing Chamber work in communities across Saskatchewan, share ideas and learn from one another. A big thank you to Patricia Cresswell Hughes, ICD.D and her Prince Albert Chamber team for being such wonderful hosts and showing us around your city. We had a great time! Data centre development in Saskatchewan now operates under clear, consistent standards. ✔️ Saskatchewan's new Data Centre Framework establishes six core principles: Canadian ownership, data sovereignty, Saskatchewan jobs and partnerships, industry experience, self-supplied power, and a centralized intake process. This week, Saskatchewan Chamber CEO Prabha Ramaswamy, accompanied by board member Tyler Willox, met with the federal Conservative Caucus, where Prabha presented on the Chamber's advocacy initiatives and top priorities affecting Saskatchewan businesses The following five business priorities emerged through our recent member survey: - Infrastructure investment - Inflation & cost of living stabilization - U.S. - Canada trade - Regulatory efficiency - Agriculture sector support When you speak, we not only listen, but we act. The Chamber is committed to advancing these priorities at every level of government and look forward to concrete progress on behalf of Saskatchewan business.

Over the weekend, trade negotiations between Canada and the United States collapsed. The breakdown came over what Canadian officials described as uneconomic and unfair U.S. demands that fell short of the minimal tariff scenario Canada sought. The Saskatchewan Chamber is deeply concerned about the significant economic impact these latest U.S. tariffs will have on Saskatchewan businesses and workers.
